  1. How come West 4th street doesn't have cellular service yet? It's a transfer station with 7 lines!

Also, I noticed toward the south end of the upper level, just north of the first set of stairs you see that the ceiling looks like a bunch of planks all the way across, could that be a corridor to the closed West 4 st exits and stairs to the mezz?

  2. Is SBS just an excuse to get bus lanes approved?

And it's not going over the Willamsburg Bridge?

And the Willy B shuttle buses are operating on local streets to Bedford Av instead of the BQE to Lorimer and the (G)?

    Not well thought out MTA.

The BQE is a parking lot all day, and if the WB bridge ramps to the BQE are used, then the closest entrance/exit is McGuinness Blvd/Humboldt Street.

  3. I would assume they just cut right into the tunnel, similarly to what they did at Bleeker Street for the (6) / (B)(D)(F)(M) transfer. The tunnel columns would become platform columns for the new extended platform.

    Interesting.

I always wondered what kind of extra supports and columns were needed to hold up the roof of the tunnel while they did that work...

Likewise, since they were built with cut and cover, and they couldn't necessarily do that for the extensions.

  4. Today after checking n20G bus to Great Neck at Flushing-Main St, I took slow driver on Q44 SBS and got off at Sutphin Blvd/Jamaica Av at 1:04pm and made to Babylon train leaving Jamaica at 1:08pm.

I told Freeport after I show my Jamaica-Hicksville ticket, but when train got near Baldwin Harbor, I decided to go on n35 bus instead and got off train about 1:30pm.

I ask nearby pizza place if I could use you know what because n35 bus is slow.

1:45pm n35 Westbury was suppose to come at 1:48pm, but I gave chance then around 2pm, one more passenger came, then at 2:10pm I went to ticket machine to buy ticket to Freeport, then stop by at n35 bus at 2:22pm but I ended up taking LIRR at 2:28pm to Rockvile Cetre around 2:38pm and 2:20pm n15 Roosevelt Field came ontime at 2:45pm, and arrive 2 minutes late at Hempstead at 3:08pm.

Then, grab few schedules and 15:10pm n32 Far Rockaway was ontime, arrive Mott Av/Central Av at 4:08pm.

After Library Meeting in Brooklyn Heights and Whole Food shopping in East Village, I took (F) to Jamaica at 169th St, got off there around 9:22pm, then made to Q1 Jamaica Bus Terminal which got to terminal at 9:25pm.

There were two unhappy passengers about 9:40pm n22 Hicksville trip operating as 9:35pm n22 Roosevelt Field Mall. She called NICE Bus "dirty bus" after I told her 10:35pm n22 Hicksville bus. Two passengers were forced to take that bus to Mineola for LIRR to Hicksville.

Then I took Q44 SBS back to Flushing for (7) train home to Junction Blvd.

Hows the Q44 SBS, I haven't been on it yet.

  5. There's mistake on n1 and n43.

n1's Saturday and Sunday Schedules says, "n6 Saturday/Sunday to Elmont/Jamaica or Hewlett/Grand Av)

    http://nicebus.com/NiceBus/media/NiceBus-FrontPageSlider/NICE-n1_Apr2016-v2.pdf

n43 schedule still says Roosevelt Field/Hempstead.

Is n70 bus still on detour because of Smith St is still construction?

    They don't have proofreaders? haha

  6. What it all really boils down to, AGAIN, is that Nassau refuses to properly fund NICE bus and give those in the community who need it a ride.  NICE has a $7 million shortfall, the county has a $45 million dollar surplus and only gives NICE $3 million less than half the shortfall to run at a minimum.  What else are they doing with this surplus?  Instead they'd rather see the elderly and mentally handicapped walk 2-3 miles each day.  It makes me sick!

From what I heard the county didn't actually have a surplus, they didn't spend all that they borrowed, or something like that.

  7. I would say since the R143s hit the line. But, the trains announce it as a Rockaway Pkwy bound (L) train. They used to announce it as a Canarsie bound train. The trains call the station Canarsie-Rockaway Pkwy, platform signs call it Rockaway Pkwy, maps and overhead directional signs call it Rockaway Pkwy Canarsie.

Its one of those stations with interchangeable names.

I guess I should add that it was a R-160 on the (L) that I was on. It was a "Canarsie" bound L train. And FIND had "Canarsie" as the last stop
