I just saw a packed Q77 on Francis Lewis Blvd. Now I've seen it all.

The notice I read at Atlantic Ave said Chambers Street, not WTC...
Correct. I was replying to this:
The is going express (staying on the same track) after 59 Street, then switching to the Track after Canal Street. It won't delay and Trains as both of them are going local after 59 Street so they can switch over to the after West 4 Street.

I believe the is actually going to the Chambers St station/Platform and not switching to the World Trade Center platform.

What do you mean?

For example, does the T/O take over and "drives" the train to the middle track and walk through the train to pull out onto the Manhattan bound track? Or does the computer run the train, and reverse it toward Manhattan? Also, do they have to clear the short urns before it leaves the station?

There are short turns at Myrtle, so not all trains go to Canarsie.
According to Transit App there are 9 short turns in the morning, but most of the day it runs at 5 min headways to Canarsie. Also how do the short turns work with CBTC?

Ah, thanks.
Next question... maybe related, don't know. What's the bottleneck on L train tph? If the line and trains are all CBTC... something else?
Hudson Yards has tail tracks, so trains can enter at regular speeds (unless your taking the crossover and even then its a 20mph limit)
8th Avenue has no tail tracks and has a bumper post within the station, requiring trains to progressively slow down to 10 mph then 5mph and then come to a stop, which takes more time to do.
The line electrical substations are pretty much at capacity at this point.
Quick question, why does the 's frequency cover the entire line when the majority of ridership is west of Myrtle-Wyckoff?

That is so dangerous having 2 trains pull into the station at the same time. You've barely got an idea of when the person in front of you is braking.

That was a CBTC question

With CBTC/Opto could the MTA provide more frequent service with shorter trains? For example, late nite trains run on 20 min headway, could they run 5 car trains at 10 min headway at no additional cost?
Is it possible to run 4 car trains and have two trains platform simultaneously in a station on the same track? ( Also, with shorter trains, another train can pull into the station as one is leaving.)

When the IND built the Concourse line in the late '20s and early '30s, their main goal was to put the competition out of business. They would not do anything to jeopardize that goal, much less build a combined IRT/IND line.
Is that why there is an express station at Roosevelt Ave on the Queens Blvd Line, to steal IRT riders?

Grand Central.
With the original layout of the system (we not gonna get into detail about the specifics lol) after 14 St-Union Sq was Grand Central on the platform. After that was 72 St-Bway since Times Sq (at that tine) wasn't a huge hustle and bustle area like it is now. Tines Sq on the Shuttle platform was a local station.
Ahh ok, makes sense now. I wonder why they went with the "H" system after adding lines and not a "crossover" system, where the original line stays intact, but the 7th Ave line crosses over (maybe 34th st, maybe 42nd) and becomes the Lexington Ave line.

I just looking at the vanshnookenraggen subway map and was thinking of the original IRT line. There were no express stops between 72nd street and Union Square?

I think the tracks were former layups or something like that. The connection from QBL to Archer Av was something similar.
T2 comes in where D4 used to be. D4 was rerouted on the south end to connect to the former D5 relay track, which was connected on its north end back to D4.
T1 comes in where D1 used to be. A new D1 was built outside of it.
Oh ok Thanks.

Yet another power failure at DeKalb Av...
Wouldn't it be interesting if it happened because they're trying to connect the new buildings in the area to the grid?

Good to see the MTA is finally taking the Q70 off of the GCP it's just a nightmare on most days.
Why can't it be dynamic? There are no stops between the airport and 74th Street/Roosevelt Ave, why can't the B/O use the GCP when there is no traffic, and avoid it when there is traffic?

How did they widen and support the QB line to add the 63rd st connection?

That had nothing to do with the since all trains this weekend are going up to 96 St because of the being out
I think what they're saying is that the was the only one going to Manhattan from South West Brooklyn (apparently the issue is fixed) and that there are no trains south of Church Ave this weekend, so the traffic on Mc Donald Ave isn't helping the situation.

If they were to expand the Jamaica Yard, how much more space would they need? Are train yards ever double decked? (besides say179th Street/Hillside)

b/d D, N, Q and R trains are running with delays, due to a Con Ed loss of power at DeKalb Av.

Ok , now there's a pattern going on

There's no mistake, those were northbound trains, and they started at Brighton Beach. Coney Island was a through station and not a terminal for those trains at that time - it was treated just like any other local and express station. It is just like how the runs today; a 71st Street-bound train leaving Metropolitan Avenue is called a northbound train despite actually going roughly southwest.
It's interesting also, because once a "northbound" train leaves Steinway Street, it's heading southeast.

I just took a to 179th st from Union Turnpike. Im not sure if it's part of the track work or if there was a gap in service.

Quick question, where do PATH threads go, is it in Regional Transit Systems?

I'll just place this here... Looks like it will be a lovely rush hour tonight...
That list can be misleading. An issue at Flatbush Junction or E 180th St can cause "delays" on the , when it only affects two lines/ one station.

There is a Subway Proposals/Ideas thread here: http://www.nyctransitforums.com/forums/topic/48571-department-of-subways-proposalsideas/page-448?do=findComment&comment=901709
That being said, while I agree with the idea of providing better travel options for traveling in-between the outer-boroughs (Queens-Bronx travel comes to mind), extending the as such would be an engineering nightmare given the existing infrastructure. There are no true layup tracks, and even if you branched them from the existing connecting tracks between Queens Plaza and Court Square (which is where they're laid up now), you'd still have to work around the and underpin the . And even if you were to connect them to the Astoria line, that line is already at capacity.
Nevertheless, service should be improved to reflect the surge in ridership and, yes, the shutdown. Someone mentioned either on here or on the Facebook group the possibility of restoring Queens Boulevard service once CBTC goes online.
If the turn out is south of Queens Plaza then under pinning the shouldn't be necessary Could they just turn the toward Sunnyside Yard to make quick outside maneuvers?
As for Service on QB with CBTC, that would be great, but the terminal operations are an issue.
