  1. It Makes a difference. I was transferring at W4th St and it said:

    <- (C) Euclid Ave  1 Min

    (A) Lefferts Blvd  10 Mins ->

    Makes the decision quite easy.

I wonder if the rollout of these countdown clocks are because they are adding logic on a station level?

At W4th street, the downtown platform showed the (C)  and (A) even though the (A) was 10 mins away, and I suppose the (E) didn't show until the (C) left because it's the next local but it doesn't cover stations that the (C) doesnt.

  2. Queens Boulevard is 4-track all the way to the very end. What kind of work is going on that prevents all 4 tracks from being used past Forest Hills this weekend?

    Maybe CBTC work?

They're replacing the crossovers at 75th Avenue.

They should overlap whatever work they can while the line is shut down.

  3. Man, I miss those redbirds trains. The AC on the cars may not always work but they ran like Usain Bolt on speed...

Did they really run fast or was it the illusion of running fast? For example the R32's on the QB Express seemed really fast because it was noisy and shaky. The R160's blast through Woodhaven Blvd,  there's this windtunnel type sound when going through the station.

  4. How has the (M) been along Broadway? It must be nice for those heading past Myrtle to not have to transfer to the (J) at Myrtle when coming from midtown.

The number of stations listed for each line is the number of stations not already covered by a line that has previously been officially activated on the countdown clock.

Take the (E) - "11 stations". The R and C will officially be online before the (E). The (E) has 32 stops along its route (not counting the trips to 179th St). All stops between Queens Plaza and 71st Avenue are already officially online, since they're covered under the R train. The stops between Canal St and 50th St will come online when the C does. That will leave 11 stations on the (E) line that aren't officially online - World Trade Center, 7th Avenue, 5th Avenue, Lexington Avenue, Court Square, 75th Avenue, Kew Gardens, Briarwood, Jamaica-Van Wyck, Sutphin Blvd and Jamaica Center.

Ahh ok makes sense.. However if the (R) is already running, then why would the (W) have 24 stations on the list?

  5. I feel there's gonna be a conga line at 71st ave because of the frequency of (E) and (F) service.

Also, are they doing any fastrack type repairs to the stations "north" of 71st Ave? It would make sense.

    How did you find that?

Which LIRR branch serving Penn Station stops at Forest Hills and Kew Gardens?

    Free LIRR rides  :D

Babylon Branch and Long Beach, not every train stops on those branches stops at those two stations on weekends though.

The LIRR train time app is really useful for times/branches and prices.

  6. Oh gosh knowing this I'll probably leave my house earlier and take the (7).

I don't know if all trains were doing it, or if that particular T/O was being super cautious (because he started slowing down in Manhattan too). But omg it was horrible! Even one guy that was standing said "that was torture" once we started speeding up when the express tracks dip below Northern Blvd.
