If anybody is in the area there's an R160 train heading to Rockaway Park RIGHT NOW! Just passed my train near the race track. It was signed up as the to Rockaway Park which made it that much cooler. There was a 12/9 with TWO people at Broadway Junction which messed up & train service.

What is a "Parlor Bus"? There was an RTS being used as a swing bus today saying it was a Parlor Bus in the window. Bus also had a red "Hold" sign in the window, bus still had its farebox btw.

Soooo... anybody got any info/update on this R62A train?

BP should take a page out of West Farms book and run them in service anyway, even with the broken A/C lol

I love the diesel engines, love how loud they are, the bass etc. The diesel engines are my favorite aspect of the commuter railroads. I like the Metro North Shorliners more than the C3s though, C3s just feel like bi level subway cars.

In my experience, drivers only make annocements at transfer points, not every single stop. I rode it on the 82 local which stops far more often than the Limited, so the announcements are constantly going off.

I rode a Cuomo XD40 on the B82 local today and automated announce system announced Every. Single. Stop. Must have been annoying for the Driver lol.

Today for the first time since 2006, I got an R32 with broken A/C... on the line:( A/C had just broke as the car wasn't a complete steam bath, but it was warm as no air was coming out the vents, people were commenting saying "Damn it's hot in here" etc. I was sweating and I had a seat! lol.

You sure? Cause the 62s started out as singles as well and I've been on 62s with hot cars on both the and (3). Haven't been on hot cars on any other fleet except for the 62s and 62As in recent years.

I seen a 313x set in service today hooked up to a high 312x set, I think two of the cars was 3134 and 3127, never seen that set might before so that might be another 179 set entering service.

Haha haha that raggedy beat up bus finally bit the dust! That bus has been raggedy for years now, it was an eyesore too.

The reason the 62A A/C sucks is because they only have one compressor per car due to them being as built as singles and when that lone compressor overheats and shuts off = no A/C. Married pairs have two compressors due to not all of the underbody equipment being stuffed in one car.

There was three sets during the PM Rush.

7675 was on the B42 today!

My last three rides on the B42 have all been on RTS 4929, caught it both ways on the 42 yesterday and caught it again this afternoon.

Today I rode the B47 and got the one OG hybrid left at GA, 6844 lol.

42s have a higher MDBF than the 32s😃

R160s outrun ALL B div SMEE cars. The 32s are lighter than 160s and the 160s still accelerate faster than 32s. IIRC, it was explained that NTT hold their 2.5 MPH acceleration longer than the SMEEs do. Hence why they seem faster.

Is their any R142 trains this weekend?

That has nothing to do with build quality, no transit vehicle in NYC stays looking pretty for long.

Today was my day, shorty after catching the xde40, I FINALLY caught the Proterra, cool bus but the A/C is trash, New Flyer wins in the A/C category. Other than the A/C issues, I like! Bus powertrain is super quiet and is mostly drowned out by the HAVC noise. Also, 9503 is trackable btw, it and one of the Proterras was on the B57 at the same time. I didn't ride ethier bus on the B57, I looked up the 57 on the tracker out of boredom and found 9503 by mistake lol.

Rode XDE40 9500 today and it's by far my favorite X series bus. Far more fun to ride than the XD40s and the CNG variations. OMG, when it gets going, the power, the sound of the engine, pure foam😁 love love love these xde40s, it feels like a pure diesel bus rather than a hybrid. Engine shuts off at times when the bus is idle, even if you don't the Orion hybrids you'll love these xde40s, amazing bus. I like the Orion hybrids too btw.

I thought about getting on the 5:24 and then installing the app, but I was lazy and didn't feel like walking though the train to find a seat, installing the app, then putting my bank card infomation in, etc. So I just waited for the 6:01, it worked out for me because the 6:01 was a super express that only stopped at Jamaica and Penn Station, that was quite fun. I didn't even know such an express run existed on the Long Beach branch.
