  1. Some of the M9 cars got derailed while apart of a freight train while being delivered to NY.
  2. Shocked nobody mentioned the 495 helix work potentially effecting via NJ express routes in a negative manner. Media been making a HUGE deal about this 495 construction, I really hope its just the media being overly dramatic.
  3. Sometimes animals run right down the middle of a track and end up getting ran over. On the railroads Deer, Cows, etc get hit by trains all the time, if you ride commuter railroad you'll see dead Deer along side the ROW from time to time. IMO the MTA did the right thing, a GOAT getting 12-9'd will delay service just as long.
  4. Does CAS have a route similar to the old X10 which runs off peak and weekends? I always wanted to ride an Prevost on a CAS express route cause seeing such a raggedy depot like CAS have a fancy bus like the Prevost is pretty cool. My only two rides on the X10 were old MCIs near retirement age (which is enjoyed, don't get me wrong) Was gonna fan the X10 one last time but I just didn't feel like it. Also is it still only three SI express routes that run off peak and weekends?
  5. Coming home, my was running along side an work train for several stops on the Broadway EL... pretty cool. The R156 engines are pretty quiet in motion, noisy as hell in idle though
  6. 3010 - 3019 is probably being held at Bomnardier and will probably be sent back once all the 4 car sets are delivered. Perhaps the TA doesn't want one oddball 10 car set running on the line for a extended period of time.
  7. Nothing sucks more than when the is running on 24 minute headways and you JUST miss the train... thus having to wait damn near an half hour for the shuttle train to come back to Rockaway Parkway.
  8. Speaking of pet peeves with certain express bus models..As a tall person, the old MCI Classic express buses kinda sucked, I hit my head on the reading lights/luggage rack when I was on 3006 at busfest many years ago. Most of my MCI Classic rides were the transit seat versions that Green Lines had, which didn't have reading lights, etc, so headroom wasn't an issue. By the time I started fanning express buses the MCI Classics were long gone sadly, I sadly cause their powertrain was pretty cool. I rode the BXM8 not too long ago on a warm summer day and there was NO air coming out of the damn vents, the coldest MCI I had been was a old 1800 out of SC.
  9. I saw the aftermath of that Spring Street 12-9.. I saw the body and everything, blood on the tracks and body parts. It was clearly visible from the Uptown platform. They use bleach to remove the blood from the road bed and the body parts are removed by cops and put in a hazard bag, some dude was taking pics with a DSLR.. a cameramen and a reporter from a unknown media outlet came and took video. I've been thinking about that person ever since I saw it, RIP to whoever that person was. All my years riding the subway and my first time experiencing one of these "12-9's".
  10. ^^^ Second day in a row they had that service change, same hours too.
  11. Flatlands & Remsen has SBS machines at the CI bound stop.
  12. They don't.. line uses 68s/68As assigned to CI Yard where's the uses 68s assigned to Concourse Yard.
  13. I love riding in 143 set 8277-8280, this set is much cleaner than the other 143s and the end windows are clear like the CI 160s.
  14. There's two sets of 42's on the upper level at ENY yard with their rollsigns set to "Not In Service" these two sets are next up to be transferred perhaps?
  15. Since they are retiring soon and they are my favorite bus, I go out of my way to ride RTS and try to ride as many as I can. Today I was downtown BK and planned on doing something else, then I saw 5206 on the B38, change of plans!😃 I only avoid RTS on the B25.. way to many walkers/wheelchairs on that route. I was on an RTS on the 25 that had not ONE, not two, but THREE walkers AND a wheelchair on at the same time. One of the walker was sitting on the seat behind the rear door so people sitting in the back of the bus had little to no space to get off. With that being said, the remaining RTSs are much cleaner than those old school RTSs powered by the 6v92 engine, those use to puff black smoke whenever they accelerated.
  16. Already? Most ENY hybrids are at or close to retirement age. The youngest ones are 6800s which are from 07 IIRC. IMO, the hybrids aged pretty well, they aged better than our Orion V's IMO. No signs of rust and they aren't rattle traps.
  17. Hybrid 6829 has a screeching fanbelt, Orion 7 doing it's best D60HF impression lol.
  18. That 42 pair is now signed up as the on the front and side... ENY yard workers trolling again lol
  19. I rode ex NYCT hybrid 6535 on the Q35 today... it wasn't any better or worse than the original hybrids MTA Bus has. Only noticeable difference is the windows on 6535 are much more dirtier than the MTA Bus hybrids. IMO It's safe to say that the maintenance between NYCT and MTA Bus is pretty much uniform these days. Back in the Green Lines era, Green buses were far more dirty than the NYCT Buses.
  20. Finally got to ride a Cuomo XD40 on the B42, they do have the announcements for the 42 if anybody is wondering. Speaking of the B42... The 42 along with the Bensonhurst bound 6/82s aren't using that little bus terminal next to the train station due to construction. 42s are picking up across the street and 6 & 82s are picking up in front of dollar general. The construction in the area has caused a traffic nightmare on Rockaway Parkway with the 6, 17, 42, 60 and 82 all running down that block. A B42 driver change held up traffic on Rockaway Parkway.
  21. They mentioned the B25 earlier in the disruption, they also mentioned the Q24 for local stops on the line between Eucild and Broadway Junction.
  22. N/B trains were bypassing Broadway Junction, the train involved in the 12-9 (An R46 train) was still parked in the station. No body parts, dead bodies, blood or gore was visable. Just cops standing on the platform.
