  1. Anybody noticed that the 68As that been really loud on the outside lately? When one comes though a station it sounds like earthquake. Their louder than every other car class in the active fleet right now.
  2. That bar in front of the farebox on some of the newest New Flyer buses we got kinda makes it hassle to dip the metrocard in the farebox.
  3. What time does the R68 put in leave Stillwell Ave?
  4. On board video of one of the XDE40s with B.A.E hybrid drive over the WillyB.
  5. With a bike you can travel between those two points quickly. I bike a mile in 4 to 5 minutes. Look up bike lanes in Manthattan. Hudson River Park bike trail has little to no traffic crossings you won't have to worry about lights.
  6. I wonder if it's because JY 46s run on a part time line where's PY 46s run 24/7 (and on the longest line in the system). R62s outperform 62As even though they are older and even at one point even outperformed the 142s.
  7. 207th maintains the line 160s, AFAIK, Pikin has good maintenance. The line fleet comes in for inspection more often compared to other B div lines (due to the high mileage of the line)so the cars will be well taken of. The R46 currently running out of Pikin are in good shape for their age IMO. It's funny as CI 160s seem be in better shape than the ones based out of 207th, despite the fact that CI units run 24/7. 207th units brakes screech and have dead motors and just seem beat up and they run on a part time line, CI 160s rarely ever screech and run very smooth.
  8. This week I accomplished a personal milestone, I rode the B44 to and from the Knapp Street terminal so I officially rode every single part of every route out of Flatbush depot😄 This was my home depot as well as my favorite depot in the system, and the GOAT depot 😁 Crazy I just now rode that depot entire network as I lived in Flatbush service area for a good portion of my life. It's also the only depot where I been on every route in their entirety. I rode the Veterans Ave B41 branch from the first stop for the first time a couple weeks ago.
  9. Might have been heading to Canarsie Yard to get washed.
  10. They are commuter rail MUs, that's what they are designed to do! As was already mentioned, it's wet leaf season. Besides, the M7 MDBF is higher than the M3s MDBF on both MTA railroads. The M7s are fine.
  11. The same engine used in the Prevosts are also used in 18 wheeler trucks, which I would imagine pull far heavier loads than a full coach bus /w people standing. I could see this being a issue with the 2300 MCI at Charleston though, those use the ISL, same engine in the XD40/Novas. I can see the 2300s being a little underpowered if filled up with people. Speaking of those 2300s, those buses get lost in the shuffle and hardly anyone talks about them lol. I like them, I wish UP had all of them or spilt between UP & CAS rather than Q.V. & CHR.
  12. I read in the NJT subforum that NJT has MCI's with over a million miles on them, I wonder if any MTA MCI's ever hit that mark?
  13. Wow, they only have one pair of 32s as a spare. I would imagine two sets are in service at most with remaining cars as spares. IIRC the 32s have a high spare factor, so I just can't see only one pair leftover as a spare.
  14. IIRC, SC had 708 - 751. The 98/9900s were entirely at CP before quite a few got sent to WF and JG, I don't remember the exact numbers of units that went to NYCT. 7200s were ex Triboro and CP had most of them, I can't remember if any ever made it to SC.
  15. At any point today were the Holiday Train and the 179 train at the same place at the same time? I would imagine that cause quite a bit of excitement with the fanners lol
  16. You don't see this everyday, credit goes to Steve Angelicoa Link to his Flickr page: https://www.flickr.com/photos/144869330@N05/
  17. That 68 set is assigned to the line, it ran light from Concourse Yard to the line.
  18. Their was tail tracks that went past Times Square, so I don't think it was possible to get decent photos of where the bumper block was.
  19. 9508 is in service on the B60 right now! But it's not on Bus time sadly.
  20. JFK and FR had 8600s, now I remember riding a 8600 RTS on the Q35. Years ago I remember seeing a photo of an 8600 RTS at LGA but I can't find it.
  21. LGA briefly had 8600s before their retirement.
  22. Or go between the cars or on the pillars in underground stations.
  23. I thought 9505 was in a major accident? So wouldn't that bus be the first "Cuomo" bus to have a major accident? For some weird reason pics never leaked 9505 after its accident.
  24. Tonight, I rode the LIRR from NYP to Jamaica only because I never been on a Commuter rail train during a snowstorm. My train was delayed a bit around Sunnyside yard due to switch problems at Woodside, I was worried it would be a long delay but it wasn't too bad. A Dual Mode running in E Mode went pass my train and man the 3rd rail arcing from the Locomotives was epic. Also around Jamaica the switches have fire shooting out of them to keep the switches from freezing, I never seen that in person so it was pretty cool to see. My Babylon train was 20 mins late when it got to Jamaica, at the time W/B service was suspended due to switch trouble and the subway was cross honoring. It wasn't that bad for me luckily, but other LIRR riders had a rough commute tonight, just on go Twitter and type in LIRR in the search bar.
