  1. The damn SBS machines at Utica/ Ave H Kings Plaza bound are not even on and at the time the next 46 local was way in Crown Heights around Atlantic Ave, so I had no choice but to take the SBS without paying. Oh well.
  2. Surprised to hear the tracks in Archer are in such bad shape, espically considering that part of of the subway system is fairly young and by the time it opened, the deferred maintenance era was pretty much over. Not to mention both the E and J levels have been shutdown for weekend G.Os over the years so I assumed the tracks there was in good shape. Yikes at the shuttle bus only going to Van Wyck. Many riders out of Parsons Archer already gotta take a bus to and from their neighborhoods to the train station, so during this G.O those riders will have a three seat ride just to get to the J line at 121, ouch.
  3. S/B: Timers due to the sharp curve before entering Nevins Street. N/B: Timers, trains used to able to enter Borough Hall at full speed but they put timers there for whatever reason.
  4. ^^ Is that no between JC and 121st a 24/7 G.O? If it is would be a throwback to the 80s when the Jamaica EL to 168 was closed until Parsons Archer extension opened, or so I heard, I wasn't born until 91 lol.
  5. Some of the Redbird cars in the museum fleet have the same numbers as R160s, it's no biggie. I'd prefer for the museum fleet to keep their original numbers, except for the Honeymooners bus, which got re numbered to the bus# in the TV show. At one point Flatbush had both the RTS 5227 and the Fishbowl 5227 at the same time. The Fishbowl 5227 was already retired as a museum bus and far as I know it didn't cause no issues there.
  6. Metro North kept a few M1 cars after their batch of M7s were delivered for service to the new Yankee Stadium station. Eventually, those M1 cars were scrapped without anything replacing them.
  7. Is it normal for a train to terminate at New Lots around 5:08PM? This was NOT a put in from Livonia Yard, it was a S/B train came from the BX. It didn't go out of service ethier, it layed over and eventually went back uptown in service.
  8. One of the early D60s was saved and was apart of the museum fleet for a bit, sadly it was later scrapped. I love the D60s but I would be shocked if one got saved, a unit that ran on the BX12 SBS when it first started would be ideal IMO.
  9. Since the first batch of Orion hybrids are starting to be retired, I hope 6365 is saved for the museum. Hybrids have been the backbone of the MTA Bus fleet for 10+ years now and it's only right the bus that started it all, gets saved.
  10. They have been using a 42 set to test timers and speed limits so they can be adjusted for faster service. IDK if that was the case in this particular situation though, could have been school car as well.
  11. One seventy nine. I heard TA employees call the R160s "One sixtys"
  12. Of Arines? Nope. I don't think they can use D type/BMT Standard combo in regular service even though they can now run together, something to do with the doors. Maybe when all the R16s and both R10s are restored, they can use that as a second holiday train.
  13. MTA website says there's a G.O on the line today, but the line is running normally. I was pleasantly surprised when I got to Rockaway Parkway today to find out there wasn't no shuttle on 24 min headways😁
  14. Eh, I heard it was school car is the reason for this G.O a while back. The G.O is to qualify new T/O how to operate a train in CBTC territory. Since no where else in the B div has the CBTC system the line uses, they have train operators on the actual line.
  15. That G.O is not new, they have been having it for a few years now.
  16. My high school had metal detectors, so seeing them in transit wouldn't bother me lol.
  17. Hmmm, I wonder why a work train was on that part of the line this time of night?
  18. I just realized the R68A is the only car class that doesn't run on weekends. Which is funny as it's the youngest SMEE car class, yet none of them run weekends. The is entierly 2xxx 68s and I would imagine 68A 's don't run every weekend, maybe here and there but AFAIK, I know 68A on the weekend is the exception, not the norm. I used to love riding 68A trains to High School in the late 2000s, glad they get to rest on the weekends these days 😄
  19. Yes, it had its own depot logo and everything. When it was Green Lines they was separate as well as FR never had the MCI Classics with the local bus seats, but JFK did... well in the late 90s/early 2000s at least. Post takeover JFK usually had all of the DC reject Orion V but some strayed over to FR from time to time.
  20. There's no G.O on the mainline IRT this weekend😄 There's one G.O on the but it's a minor one, it's being replaced by a shuttle bus between Willis Point and Main Street.
  21. Rode a XD40 on a WF route today, I like the fact that WF has both XD40s and XN40s. I do wonder if it causes confusion when it comes to fueling the buses at the depot though, as they mostly look the same with minor differences that the average transit employee wouldn't care about. Not saying that's a bad thing, if I wasn't a buff I wouldn't notice or care about the differences between the XN and XD40s.
  22. XD40s have been coming into Ulmer Park like crazy so I wouldn't surprised if a bunch of RTS's get retired from that depot soon.
