  1. I believe they always did this, when the 160s we're coming in, the 32-42 cars usually went to Concourse yard for storage for a bit before being moved to 207th for disposal. Also R40 Slants came back on the N after the 160s pushed them off the line, due to the Siemens units needed to be sidelined for some issue they had.
  2. If the R32s can run for 55 years, so can the 188s. So the factory sets and conversion sets being 15 years apart is no biggie IMO.
  3. It was seen pulling into Rockaway Blvd though.
  4. A poster on another forum seen an 42 set out and about on the line today, can anyone confirm that it was running in passenger service?
  5. Why are LIRR C/R's never aware that their railroad is cross honoring🤔
  6. Forgot to mention, briefly around 2PM today the SIM4C was 100% MCI, all 4300s and one 2200 Cummins MCI. Pretty cool, wish that happened more often, must be an rare occurrence in the "Prevost" era. From time to time I check the SIM3C, 4C and 33C off peak to see how many MCI's are out and about, Prevost are usually dominating those routes with an mighty fist.
  7. I haven't been on an SC express bus since 2012. I rode SC express routes many times before that and never had an issue.
  8. Is this sign from before GOH? I tried to find an pre GOH R32 interior pic to compare and only found this one, but I had trouble seeing the other end of the car after zooming in
  9. Man SC has some of the best maintenance in the entire city. Seen a SC C40 so clean today that you could see cars reflection off of the window and body. This is in the middle of winter too😄
  10. Haha those same fans were probably giddy over riding the R16 on the recent fan trips they ran on😃
  11. Those Jamaica RTS are a hassle to fan outside of the Q17, and even on that route I'd try to fan it from the Jamaica end. Most of Jamaica routes are subway feeders and you have to wait on a line to board the bus and the buses that start at Parsons - Archer don't layover at the stop they start at, so you have no idea what route the RTS will be operating on until it pulls up right at the stop. That's the reason I wish FP or GA had JAM RTS fleet cause they would be so much easier to find😁 Even Q.V. or MTV would be better than JAM, nothing to do that depot maintenance or anything like that, just easier to find and fan. Q3 (Both ends) and the Q77 are also easy to board due to 165th is not as busy as Parsons Archer and most people board those routes at the 179th station stop. If I was looking for a JAM RTS I'd aim for the Q3, Q17 and Q77..
  12. I like the fact that old school PBL express bus signs are still up in many places, as an kid it added to the aura of express buses to me. After the PBL takeover and later on removing the Orion CNG's from Express service ruined the charm of express buses to me. So to me its nice that one aspect of the PBL, even if its small, is still around.
  13. The portion of the line the SMEEs use to travel to and from the wash still have wayside signals, the underground portion (Bushwick to 8th Ave) of the line only has wayside signals at interlockings.. Running SMEE's in service on the line wouldn't make sense, without wayside signals they would have to go real slow for safety reasons, also would CBTC equipped trains would even be able to "see" an SMEE in front of it? Could be disastrous if an SMEE went BIE in the underwater tubes and the CBTC system doesn't know the train is there..
  14. Yep, but how much different they are from the GMC RTS other than the way they look and the engine? That's why I'd put a * on giving Nova credit for the RTS considering it's not their orginal design.
  15. Some of the doors on the ends of the R46 cars has or had tinted windows.
  16. I wonder how many depots with outdoor storage had trouble starting up their buses this morning due to the cold. A lot of the people around the area had trouble starting their cars today. I know SC hooks up their bus engines to block heaters so they will be able to start up in cold weather, I don't think older depots have that luxury.
  17. Wouldn't 3010 - 3019 have enter service to do the 30 day passenger test?
  18. Nice, I guess that means were aren't too far off from seeing M9s in revenue service.. Speaking of M9s, I read on another forum that one of the M9 option orders will be motorless coaches for the DIESEL fleet.. pretty interesting development. Basically M9s without traction motors being pulled by DE/DMs..
  19. If anyone wants to ride an Metro North M3, tomorrow would be a good chance to find one as the Harlem line is gonna be running a whole lot of extra trains on modified Saturday schedule on MLK day (21 extra trains on the Harlem line to be exact). However it's gonna feel like the North pole outside so try to ride to an outdoor station that has indoor waiting area like White Plains. Southeast has no heated indoor waiting, I learned that the hard way when I rode up there during winter a few years ago. The staircase from the platform to the parking lot doesn't have heaters.
  20. Doesn't ENY depot have a lot of political pull within the DOB? For that reason alone I can't see them losing the 82 SBS.
  21. That one was for passengers, this new mockup is most likely for NYCT engineer's to see if the train meets NYCT standards, etc.
  22. What are the routes where the Neoplan Artics are the dominant fleet? Only been on a NJT Neoplan once a few years ago and it was a PABT route, never been on the Newark division units.
  23. Yes, the Times Square shuttle cars or those 4 singles leftover at Corona Yard. I'd imagine it's possible for shop forces to rebuild a Kawaski 62 to be operational as an single car again.
