  1. The ones still in the subway system would most likely be static displays as the entire system will mostly be CBTC by then. Thats why y'all better enjoy the museum cars running though the system while you can, as more and more parts of the system gets CBTC less places they can run.
  2. Yes, but those buses aren't exactly a fan favorite lol.
  3. According to this Newsday article, they are expected be in service by the end of this month: https://www.newsday.com/long-island/transportation/lirr-new-trains-m9-electric-1.30750025
  4. Of course the train crew will be able to make manual announcements on the 211s... The train crew would need to make manual announcements in an emergency and to explain G.O's to the passengers.
  5. My last ever RTS pic and ride... Pic of old next to new... Would had rather it be an Flatbush RTS and an Allison Transmission as my final RTS ride but beggers can't be choosers lol.
  6. 5241 is in service RIGHT NOW and is trackable on bustime! 5249 on display in front of 2 Broadway right now..
  7. SMS = Special Maintenance Service The R179s are not getting retired until 40 years from now at the MINIMUM. The TA is not gonna retire cars that are less than 5 years old and cost a million+ per car. The 179s might have teething issues that need to be sorted out so the old SMEE's will pinch hit for the 179s from time to time.
  8. Disregard this.... they will have an ceremony at Quill depot (doubt the public would be allowed to attend) then TWO RTS buses will run in service from Midtown to 2 Broadway and put on display until 1:30PM, no time was given for the start time of the M55 runs, credit goes to buschat. At this point I would just wait at 2 Broadway between noon and 1:30PM for these buses to show up there lol.
  9. Wow, like fish in a barrel to find that train this weekend..
  10. I'm curious as to how the turnout will be for the final run, will the bus be crush loaded with fanners or only a handful will be there? Since the M55 run will most likely be an 99 RTS I rode those on the M55 quite a few times when the RTS's were still active, so I won't lose sleep if I don't ride this final run lol. I'll probably stop by 2 Broadway to get pics of the buses on display, If I don't make it there's always busfest in june... assuming they bring the NYCT RTS's out for that, they usually only bring the PBL units. All in all I hope the final ride goes smoothly, then maybe it will encourage the TM will bring out the vintage bus fleet for rides more often.
  11. According to a post on buschat, an RTS will have an final run on Monday, May 6th on the M55 departing at 9:10AM from the midtown terminal, it will run in service to 2 Broadway where it will be on display from 10AM to 1PM. There will be two RTS from the museum fleet on display (Most likely 1201 and 5249).
  12. MDBF numbers for March 2019.. R188 New: 586, 702 R188 Conversion sets: 207, 656 R160: 237, 565 R143: 96, 309 R142: 173, 003 R142A: 97, 670 R68A: 93,379 R68: 70, 819 R62A: 106, 389 R62: 296, 979 R46: 66, 834 R42: 24, 268 R32: 36, 258
  13. In regards to 5249... I noticed that in the pic the farebox is still inside the bus. As for this "event" at 2 Broadway, I will only be hype if 1201 shows up. Y'all really excited that a bus from the most recent batch of retired RTS will be put on display (Doubt they will be giving rides) a couple of days after their retirement...? 1201 hasn't been out for an event in years, and it has the 6v71 so one could get video of that bus leaving once the event ends.. Also there's no video on youtube of that bus in motion...
  14. With the retirement of the RTS, our MCIs (the ones from the 2000s) are the last "old school" buses we have left. Yeah quite a few hybrids are older but I consider the hybrids modern technology lol. Those MTA Bus MCIs aged like fine wine, I wouldn't be surprised if the TA sells them rather than scrap them if they stick to their current retirement plan.
  15. Geez guy I liked the RTS buses too but that reporter does NOT belong in prison lol. It's not that serious.
  16. I remember seeing in the transfer thread a couple weeks ago that museum GMC RTS 1201 was getting worked on at Grand CMF... Maybe it's getting prepped for some kind of run?
  17. Today I seen 3010 - 3019, 3070 - 3074 hooked up to 3146 -3149, and an another 8 car 179 from ENY, one of the cars were numbered in the 3080's at Pikin. Wonder why that set is at Pikin, warranty work there? There visible from the apartment building ramp. I went there to see if the newest 5 car set were out but they wasn't, probably inside the maintenance shop doing whatever it is they do before train set starts burn in testing..
  18. Home routes when I lived in Flatbush: B6, B11, B41, B44, B49, B68, B103, Q35, BM1 - 4. Home routes today: B6, B17, B42, B82, B60, B103 and BM2. As for rarest catch: Catching an Orion V on the Q35 when it was still Green Lines, catching a Orion V on the Q35 a couple of years after the takeover. RTS on the B8 in 2012 Hybrid on the B103 in the C40LF era Prevost demo bus at CAS depot NG on the B41 when FLA first got those buses in 08 Matter of fact I caught NGs at many depots when they first got them, not really excited about that as I preferred the buses the NGs replaced and still do (Except for the 400 & 500 Orion V, those were pure garbage) Catching Orion V CNG 581 - 610 at JG, they was kinda rare as they there was only 30 of them at Gleason, also they predate the bustime era. Catching the first 2200 MCI SC got on its first day of service.
  19. You could just camp out at the ferry terminal until one shows up. Pre bustime era this is what I would do to find an rare SI bus.
  20. If those lines got electrified, they probably would be replaced with MU cars not locomotive hauled coaches.. The stops are so close together that HSR trainsets would be wasteful on commuter rail lines.
  21. Right now, in the middle of the PM Rush there's only ONE RTS in service on the B41, so weird to see considering they have been a major part of the B41 fleet since the 80s... before I was even born. Looks like 5125 is the last FLA RTS I will ride which happened on the B46 a couple days ago, bus ran hard. I remember the last RTS rides I had at my favorite depots.. FLA - 5125 UP - 5092 ENY - 4925
  22. If you like Cuomo wrapped XD40s, then well if you were at Willamsburg Plaza today it was an wonderland for you Cuomo wrapped buses were all over that area today😄 Even two Proterras were there, but I'm not sure what routes they were used on.
