  1. The 50 dollar fine is BS, what about people who eat on the train cause there's no indoor dining? If a cop sees me eating my lunch on the train I could get an 50 dollar ticket cause I can't eat inside of Burger King, bullshit.
  2. I wonder if all those BX artics are at these CMF for their 3 or 4 year overhaul or whatever or there's some other reason?
  3. All R68/A are slow compared to NTT. That doesn't mean their maintenance is bad, at the MDBF peak of the R68/68A fleet they had the same acceleration they do now. The R68/A's are just slow cars lol. If Concourse needed to borrow a train for one round trip during the week like the line does, then they would do that, but they have enough cars to make service just fine.
  4. I was only talking about the weekend service. I've heard about the woes weekday riders have particularity on the BX end of the route, a suggestion that comes up from time to time is to extend the hours of service to Bedford Park.
  5. 3145 and its mates are also track testing, hooked up to another R179 set that couldn't be seen. Right now ENY upper level is nothing but R179s, still space to lay up other trains though.
  6. Do you have any proof that the Concourse R68s aren't in good shape? I haven't seen or heard of any problems since they had an reduced spare factor. @The Rail Shooter If you mean using the 68A to run extra service on the no money and G.O's is probably why that won't happen. Also ops planning or whoever's decides service levels probably doesn't think that increased service is necessary.
  7. For some reason the off peak SI buses (both local and Express) that run via VZ bridge are using the upper level when they usually use the lower level.
  8. I don't see the point of using the R68A on the on weekends, the R68s assigned to the are doing just fine, there isn't a drastic difference in comfort between the fleets and the line R68s are reliable... so what's the point? About a decade ago they did something like this where they put the line R68A's on the and on weekends cause the R160s warranty was about to expire after those cars traveled a certain amount of miles. So that the warranty would last longer, they used R68A in place of the R160s on weekends.
  9. The SIM24 ran today, when I saw it at 34th and 9th, there was no one on it. Odd for Academy to run that route today when the MTA was running an Sunday schedule...
  10. LMAO fanners are in here having bus depot stan wars. Unless you're an mechanic or management at these depots why is y'all taking this so personally... Unless you're an diesel tech with lots of knowledge of bus maintenance or an B/O spending 7-8 hours driving an bus out of an particular depot we're all just speculating...
  11. Today at 42nd street S/B there's was CI bound 2xxx R68 and in the station at the same time! For me it was foam worthy cause the R68/68A are my favorite trains based out of CI Yard. Yet I hardly ever get them. BTW this R68 set DID have the 96th street rollsign.
  12. I've been watching some light rail cab ride videos on YT, and man I want a light rail route in NYC so badly haha. North Shore/West Shore light rail in Staten Island is the best bet, there's space for it and there could be a mix of street running and running on it's own ROW. Anything else is a pipe dream IMO. As much as I love for the Bay Ridge branch to become an light rail, it IS an active freight line and you can't just tell NY & Atlantic railway to go f***k themselves so the MTA can have the ROW to themselves. IDK if there's enough space on the ROW for an isolated freight track and two LR tracks and an Island platform for stations. The Triboro RX as an light rail would have to terminate in Fresh Pond or Jackson Heights as sending it to the BX along with Metro North penn station access already being on that row there's no way there's space for all that. I already have the vision of how the MTA light rail vehicles would look like... MTA light rail signs on the side like how our subway cars say MTA NYC Subway on the side, same countdown clocks that are in B div stations, FIND on the light rail trains themselves and wrapped in the same Cuomo scheme the buses are... Talk to text automated announcements to announce the stops.
  13. The past two times I've been around the BX9 they had at least 1 40 footer on the route... maybe KB is short on artics. Also with those 15 XE60's Quill has maybe they have an surplus of Artics and could afford to transfer buses to other depots
  14. Lol the shuttle buses are free yet the signs still show "Fares Required"
  15. ? E/B they usually finish collecting tickets by the time the train gets to Harold Interlocking. W/B they usually sweep the entire train before it gets to Kew Gardens. I rode between Jamaica and NYP many times over the years and my ticket was always checked, only way to farebeat is if you hide in the bathroom or something lol
  16. There's an R68A out and about today, however its signed up 57th-Midtown. Safe to say that not all of the R68/68A have the 96th street readings on their rollsign, that's probably the reason why 68s are so rare on the compared to the other CI lines. I wish they would refit ALL of the CI R68/68A with the 96th Street readings but budget is the reason they haven't done that I'm assuming.
  17. R179 testing along the line (Not my video) its train crew was trolling like a mofo signing it up as the via Culver, to Brighton Beach and the ... why does the R179s even have a program, the line was discontinued years before the 179s entered service! I assume they copy/paste the the 143/160 announcements into the 179s... Also it seems like they deep cleaned the set in the video.
  18. The Cuomo wrap adds some colors to the trains.. That's probably the best were gonna get for a long time. Railfans in the 60s and early 70s had it good with all the subway cars with different paint schemes. I have seen some non railfans say they like the R46 interior over the NTT interior cause of the colors and coziness. To me, the NTT would still be bland compared to SMEE/Prewar cars even if they were colorful, those Cuomo 160s aren't any cooler than the regular R160s, just my opinion.
  19. They are not gonna make 3 car sets JUST for the line. The Frankin Ave shuttle cars is the only active B div fleet they can make in 3 car sets as the 68s assigned to the shuttle are still singles. And there's a very small amount of single R68s, not enough to make service I'd imagine.
  20. Exception of the very last row on our buses... Most of the forward facing seats have awful leg room for tall people. Which is why the 6800s and the NGs have my favorite seating setup in the rear of the bus. The MCI/Prevost are pretty good with legroom, the forward facing seats on the local fleet, not so much.
  21. No go. Graffiti covered trains represent bad time in NYCT history that they would like to forget. Also people would still illegally tag the trains even if the TA had an graffiti art program... Just like there's still subway performers like Showtime dancers and random singers/poets/rappers that do their own thing and is NOT apart of the "Arts for transit" program.
  22. Well, this is one way to farebeat on the Express bus... Lol at the title of this news article about this.. https://nypost.com/2020/09/01/bozo-hangs-onto-mta-bus-for-dear-life-as-it-speeds-down-nyc-highway/
  23. 3129 and its mates is the other half of the "testing" consist. It's now layed up at ENY upper level..
