  1. It will probably take a year for the R211 to test then it has to pass an 30 day revenue test on top of that. The MTA probably doesn't want to keep the R32s in service that long, I read in a article that the MTA spent like 35 million dollars just to keep the R32s roadworthy. It's funny as R143s only took a couple of months to enter service but starting with the R160s it takes about a year of testing before an NTT car class enters service.
  2. Seems like every OG hybrid that came before ENY batch of 67/6800 buses has those two forward facing seats in the rear. It probably was simply an spec change by the MTA. The changeover happened somewhere in the 6700s, not sure which exact bus it was though as I rarely ride MCH 40ft routes and whenever I do, I always get an NG.
  3. The R179s are still in service, seen one in service just now and on both Saturday and Sunday. So the entire fleet was not sidelined, no idea if individual sets came back to the barn early. Also just seen 3082 running on the right now! lol
  4. WF and GH was on the shuttle today, when the shuttle went by ENY depot there's a sign outside the garage saying that the depot is being upgraded for artics, we already knew ENY the poster told us, just saying it's in progress... Back to WF and GH working the shuttle, with the whole MTA Regional Bus ordeal how come MTA bus depots aren't used for subway shuttles more often? SC, JFK, BP are closer to the shuttle route than MTV, WF and GH which was on the shuttle this weekend. Same goes for the shuttle, the three NYCT depots cover the route with a random bus from BK here or there, but MTA Bus depots is no where to be found (from what I seen) MTA Bus seem to work subway shuttles at random but not regularly.
  5. This guy probably made parts for trains from all three eras, Pre War cars, SMEE and NTT. Amazing. There was an motor man who recently passed away sadly also had an article written about him, operated R9 in passenger service when they was still regular passenger trains in the 70s, and was operating R160s on the .
  6. Sometimes MTA employees that are buffs like to troll with the number plates. A few years ago one of the Arines running on the Holiday train was sporting number plates of an Arine car that's up at one of those Trolley museums.
  7. It probably was an "codebreak" of an train put in. There's another video online of an R143 train...... at E105th on the was an put in from Canarsie Yard and the crew had the train signed up as the (A).
  8. I loved when 40FT buses ran on express routes, riding the CNGs on the BM was so much fun, my first ever express bus ride was an Orion CNG on the BM1. Hard seaters on Express routes seemed to be common prior to takeover, well at Jamaica Bus and Queens Surface at least. I'm so bummed I never got to fan the PBL Express bus routes prior to takeover, and it sucks that era isn't well documented photography wise. Command Bus express routes was well documented, the other PBL, not so much.
  9. The thing that is fishy to me is how does this "T/O" know the C/R is panicking, their several cars back! Would be funny and sad at the same time if it's a buff trolling cause that progressive action twitter page is a legit page about transit issues and they might have gotten duped....
  10. https://mobile.twitter.com/progressiveact/status/1309301979655663618 Tweet about T/O complaining about the R179 braking problems.
  11. Set of 32s not at Canarsie Yard anymore. There's one set of R32s at ENY Upper level, I assume this will run during the PM rush in service.
  12. Just now, I didn't see ANY R32s in ENY yard and judging by the sheer amount of buffs on the one R32 I rode, the 4th which was an R32 might have been the only one out during the PM Rush. The 32s might be back in retirement sooner rather than later. If the 32s are still in service next week I'd be surprised. EDIT: Theres an set of R32s at Canarsie Yard.
  13. There's an 179 set out on the right now, 3050 and its mates looked up to 3085 and its mates. Nice to see that they are letting them run all day rather than limit them to rush hours only during these early stages of their return.
  14. R179s are expected to return to service this week.. https://www.wsj.com/articles/new-york-subway-cars-to-return-to-service-after-safety-review-11600869602
  15. 3457 ECH to SC....? I just seen it driving down Flatlands Ave signed up as the BXM9, at first I thought it was an deadheading SC driver doing a codebreak. But it looked like it was being driven by an mechanic and it still had ECH stickers.
  16. Saw it on the news, part of the side of the train is ripped off..
  17. The is currently running 12 - 15 minute headways right now during the PM rush when it normally runs 10 minute headways IIRC. Source? The mta website when you click on the line bullet on the front page. They had to send a Rock Park special local to cover a gap in service. Car shortage is the cause for the extended headway?
  18. Every time I ride an BM Manhattan bound the driver always asks me what stop I'm getting off at lol. I know why they do it though... to skip the lower Manhattan portion if nobody's getting off there. IDK what beef people have with SC Express bus fleet, every time I rode an SC exp bus in recent years, the bus was always clean and ran decent. Rode an CT today and there's nothing really wrong with the bus except the fact that the bus has an minor rattle when idling, but the bus is 12 years old so..
  19. Earlier today there was an 2013 model, 2200 MCI on the SIM3C... I wonder how often an 2013 MCI finds it's way onto the SIM3C. IIRC, it was 2286, I knew it was not an 2008 unit cause the sign was different.
  20. Cause it probably wasn't in service and and most likely was an minor derailment? Trains probably have minor derailments in yards all the time, and never make the news or railfan sites.
  21. Yesterday, the shuttle was covered by MJQ, Bronx and Queens depots, even ECH and CP. The shuttle was entirely covered by ENY buses sunday evening and had much less service compared to Saturday where every BK depot had buses on the shuttle and buses lined up down the block.
  22. Found this on reddit, you don't see this everyday, A old PATH car hooked up to an IRT SMEE..
  23. Yes, I was on an ENY bus yesterday with a bunch of B83 schedules.
