  1. I just canceled my Blink membership a couple days ago cause of covid. Thinking about buying some resistance bands for home workouts.
  2. Back in the days buses didn't have power steering which kept B/O's in shape. I heard of an B/O who drove old school buses like the fishbowl stayed in shape due to how physically demanding driving those buses were. He started to drive more modern day buses and he got a gut lol. The thing I'm wondering is, don't bus depots have gyms? I'd rather workout at a depot gym than do pushups on a dirty subway bench in the covid era.
  3. Checked out the new LIRR/Amtrak concourse at Penn today, its awesome. Only complaint is when I wish they had regular fast food restaurants rather than high end eateries... they had a list of all the restaurants that will be in the food hall when it opens later on. TBH, I wish they tore down MSG, tear down the post office and build a new MSG there, and build a modern looking Penn Station above ground, also in this case NJT would have an nice new station too. Also checked out one Vanderbilt plaza concourse, only a see through fence its blocking the LIRR ESA station from the newly opened concourse. You can't see the platform level, just a hallway.
  4. You can see that Cummins facility in the BX from the Q44 bus. I remember seeing Bee Line NABI's in that lot years ago. There also used to be an Cummins shop in the NJ off the turnpike that I would see MTA Buses at from via NJ express buses. I don't think its there anymore as whenever I ride past the area where it was, the Cummins sign isn't there anymore nor any buses in the lot. (This was being discussed in the moves/transfers thread)
  5. Found this on subchat about a new feature the R211s will have.. I wonder how much problems this will cause in the early stages of the R211 order. I predict lots of bucking due to the train enforcing speed limits and a lot of BIE's (I think the latter will eventually die down) . Just want to say I'm not by any means a rail industry professional, just a railfan making some guesses. If anybody got more info on the feature about and can share, please do.
  6. Some of the ENY 179s STILL have the B91/92 announcements from when the tunnel was being repaired... which wrapped up last spring. I guess some of the 179s haven't been in ENY shop yet since they came back to service. Man these 179s are dominating the I haven't rode an R160 in quite some time.
  7. Thats an real train. A mockup wouldn't have a coupler and the little step T/O use to climb from the roadbed onto the train.
  8. When you buy a single light rail ticket on the app, there's a three minute timer before the ticket is activated. The commuter rail and bus tickets doesn't have this timer. Ethier way I'm glad you can buy LR tickets on the app!!!
  9. They could do like Amtrak does and make a plaque of all the employees who died in the line of duty over the years. Maybe put in Stillwell or Times Square station (plague above is at Union Station in DC).
  10. ^^^^ Funny you posted that, I just came back from Albany which is not too far from Jamaica Vermont. I was surprised by how rural I-87 is once you go past Rockland County, at one point there was 17 miles between exits. Kind of an shock considering how busy the NJ Turnpike/I-95 is between NYC and DC. At one point when 87 runs along side the Port Jervis line a PJ bound Metro North train went by
  11. That's funny as I think the did skip Bowery on the local tracks in the 90s during rush hour.
  12. MTA will honor Goble at his home station growing up, Flatbush Ave on the https://www.mta.info/press-release/nyc-transit/mta-announces-plans-dedicate-flatbush-av-brooklyn-college-subway-station
  13. I wonder they aren't driving these buses to ECH under their own power, weren't the RTS driven up there on their own power?
  14. According to the link below, R46 MDBF is hovering around 60,000 miles, R68 MDBF skyrocketed over the past year wheres R68A fell off a bit, info is in link is below. http://dashboard.mta.info/ Overall the entire fleet MDBF went up over the past year.
  15. The R42s (and the R32s) are far less reliable than any of the R46s. Also I heard some of the 42s were cannibalized for parts to use in the 68s.
  16. R142S was an supplement order to the R142A order. R142A supplement cars were the cars assigned to the while the had the orginal order of 142A's. "R142S" is exactly the same as the R142A mechanically.
  17. I just now realized that you can pay for ST bus fares on an app. I was boycotting fanning ST cause of their odd bus stop layout got me passed up as the B/O pulled into the stop, didn't see the route he was driving on the sign and kept going, and this a cold day in November on a route with hour headways! I'll try to stick to ST routes with short headways, I know the S1 has or had short headways for a suburban bus system. BTW this happened on the S62 on that last left it makes before Port Jefferson LIRR, Smith Haven mall bound. The stop where it makes the first right after crossing the railroad tracks, the actual bus stop sign wasn't there so I didn't know the bus stopped there otherwise I would have waited there instead of look for another stop. In the long run it worked in my favor as I ended up getting an M3 on the Ronkonkoma Branch later that day
  18. I wish the N22 split was done at RFM rather than Mineola. So NYC would have two routes that give one seat rides to RFM rather than just the N24. I miss the old N19, I remember a fan trip of the N4 from Jamaica to Freeport to the N19 to Babylon. One of my biggest transit buff regrets is never riding the N72 from Hempstead to Babylon.
  19. When I'm not in NYC all these foam worthy snow swaps happens. Dammit. Theres a freaking 3rd gen Orion on the M60...
  20. The New Haven line will not be extended to New London. If M8 run on SLE, it will be an separate service from the NH line service. If the NH line got extended to serve SLE stops, the run time would be an whopping three hours! Plus, who would want to sit on an M8 for three hours?
  21. Theres also options for CDOT and NYS, this order should wipe out all the dual mode gennies at Metro North and Amtrak.
  22. https://trn.trains.com/news/news-wire/2020/12/14-digest-metro-north-set-to-buy-dual-mode-locomotives-from-siemens
  23. Last time I rode the Thoggs Neck express bus some guy tried to farebeat on that bus. Driver simply didn't move until he got off. I'd say it depends on the driver.
  24. I've rode RTS countless number of times over the years, wheelchair lift always worked flawlessly. The only issues I came across with RTS is they sometimes had trouble getting back up from keeling when having a SRO load. Also rode one once that couldn't shift out of first gear, so the bus was redlining at 15-20 MPH. Awesome sound effects though, it basically sounded like an ungoverned RTS did at highway speeds and on the Q35 & Q53, etc. ....years later I ridden an JG Orion 7 CNG which also was stuck in 1st gear and couldn't shift any higher, sound effect wasn't nearly as cool as the RTS was though.
  25. Just curious, how common is people bringing luggage on the 319? Or people who have an extended stay in AC usually take Greyhound? I have yet to ride the 319, just wondering.. Speaking of AC - NYC bus service, Greyhound completely ruined their AC bound runs as they seem to stop at each casino now rather than go straight to AC Bus terminal from NY. This added a whole hour to the runtime which now takes three hours and 30 minutes to travel between NYC and AC bus terminal, a whole hour longer than the previous run time.
