  1. 2836 is on layover near Central Park if anyone is hunting 02 MCIs...
  2. This is the answer, SC stores exp buses uptown during the midday hours. I've heard of them using Tuskegee depot as well.
  3. Its gonna be funny as hell when they restore full service without bringing back the R32s and service runs just fine. If I'm wrong, I'll eat crow but I'm sure whomever is responsible for this kinda thing at the TA knows what they are doing.
  4. According to this article, the first cars could come this week...... or they could be delayed until June. https://www.ny1.com/nyc/all-boroughs/transit/2021/03/30/newest-mta-train-model-continues-to-face-delays-amid-covid-19
  5. Rode the 4:29 to West Hempstead today.. emptiest peak train I ever ridden on the LIRR, puzzling they decided to waste a Penn slot on a WH train during this service cut. Hardly any people was on the train. Also while my train was coming out of the East River tunnel, their was an MU shuttle to Jamaica coming from Hunters point, wtf? Turns out during the PM rush has FOUR shuttles from Hunters point that terminate at Jamaica. The shuttle I saw was literally carrying air, only seen ONE passenger on the whole train. The 2:37 to Speonk has good ridership when I rode it though, and that's with a double decker train.
  6. 2002 MCI 2858? ran in service today, front and side signs completely broke and it didn't show up on the app so I have no idea what route it ran on. But I saw it on 6th Ave about an hour ago. Surprised these are still seeing off peak service with around 20 Prevosts at that depot.
  7. "To also save the older fleet from scrapping or reefing" This is the real reason why this petition was made. A railfan who doesn't want to see the old cars retired.
  8. From reddit which got it from MTA IG page... I'm kind of disappointed the headlights aren't blue LED's, oh well.
  9. It is safe to change buses at Hempstead, it's a silly reason to to keep N15 to RF because riders are supposedly scared to transfer buses at Hempstead Transit terminal.
  10. I passed through Penn today, saw on the departure board a West Hempstead run! First time I ever seen the little ol WH line have an NYP run. Usually the WH line specials only go to Atlantic Terminal, not penn. Another run I gotta fan along with the 2:37 to Speonk...
  11. 9560 is on the B42, I rode it, I don't go out of my way to chase pliot buses anymore but I live along the B42 and well if a pliot bus is running on a route I need at an particular time, why not ride it? Bus is nice, bus sounds better than I expected, it feels a little louder on the interior than 9500 - 9510, but I could be imagining that. Siding back doors but still has the annoying "please step away from the doors" sensor. Some riders thought the bus broke down when the engine shut off at idle, not knowing that the bus is programmed to do that to save fuel. 7090 was on layover at Rockaway Parkway terminal, kinda funny as everyone was going crazy over that bus in 2014 and now nobody cares about 7090.
  12. During the PM rush in the peak direction Atlantic Terminal pretty much has weekend service, hourly headways on Hempstead and Far Rock lines, all those rush hour specials for Babylon/Long Beach/West Hempstead out of Atlantic Terminal are all gone.
  13. There's a dual mode run from Penn to Speonk that departs at 2:37PM, goes via the main line and stops at Mineola and Hicksville. A little early to have an dual mode run as they usually only use them during rush hours. I gotta fan that run one of these days. All of my dual mode rides have been from Penn to Jamaica, never felt like riding far into LI as they usually run late in the day. I always wanted off peak DM service on the LIRR like MN has with the Hudson line, yea its only one run but its better than nothing...
  14. Ronkonkoma line has hour headways during the PM rush, yikes!
  15. Didn't read the whole article but if I was to guess, most of that hate mail was from crazy foamers.
  16. Isn't that the Jones Beach - Freeport shuttle bus? If so IDK as I haven't ridden that route in years, last time I rode it it was still LIB. Also it's a seasonal route, it doesn't run during the cold weather months. EDIT: after seaching YT yea artics do run on the N88, found this video on YouTube
  17. The scanner doesn't work on my phone, whenever a C/R tries to scan the etix, it doesn't go though and the C/R eventually moves on. I don't do anything to try and beat the system, perhaps my phone has too many fingerprints or something. It's very puzzling to me. This has happened to me on both LIRR and MN... and the scanner worked on other passengers.
  18. I noticed that sometimes on these cars, the FIND randomly messes up thus causing the C/R to turn it off and make manual announcements for a stop or two. Usually the C/R fixes it and the FIND is back to normal, happens during regular service pattern, no G/Os.
  19. One arguement I haven't seen in this open gangway debate.. how do you isolate an car someone released body fluids in? I'm sure we've all seen an entire car closed off in a consist cause the car needed to be cleaned or whatever. How would this be handled in an open gangway train? Genuinely asking IDK lol
  20. Even though the N6x is suspended, they are running artics on the regular N6 runs, seen an artic on the N6 today. People must be getting left behind at Hempstead and 165th terminals as the artics don't use the N6 bays at those terminals. Fanned the N20H today, I LOVE the eastern end of that route, those areas feel like the boonies at times with the lack of sidewalks and street lights. Took that to Great Neck for the N26, the N26 was bus number 1700, funny I got that bus as I wasted lots of time waiting at 165th street years ago waiting for that bus when it was an pilot bus at LIB. I've caught 1700 quite a few times long after that order was completed.
  21. How come the google departure board for New York Penn isn't available anymore? Google "Grand Central Terminal" on your phone, its departures show up, do the same for Hoboken Terminal, same thing. Google New York Penn Station and no departures, they use to be on there but for some reason google doesn't have NYP departures anymore.. Sucks, as it showed departures for all three railroads out of that station along with each stop they made, used to love to use that google departure board to plan trips.
  22. Cars from all three MTA railroads are in that video!!!! R211, M8 and M9 carbodies, too bad the M9s are covered though.
  23. West End was out earlier due to network communications issues.. https://mobile.twitter.com/NYCTSubway/status/1364697236177899521
  24. Cool. I rode the 139 for the first time a couple weeks ago, decent route to fan.
