  1. 9592 ran in service on the M42 yesterday, a video of it running on that route popped up on my YouTube feed. I take it MJQ operators don't need to train on these since they already have the straight diesel version of that bus? Surprised it hit service so quickly.
  2. I rode the new Prevost for the first time today on an ECH route, very nice bus. Which stood out to me the most is how good the soundproofing is, you can barely hear the engine in the interior of the bus. Might have been the quietest straight diesel bus I ever been on.
  3. Wasn't the BM5 originally non stop in Queens? That may have something to do with it, why have Q in the line's name when it doesn't stop in that borough! That is how it was early into MTA Bus era. No idea what Command service pattern was. Eventually they added BM5 stops along Woodhaven Blvd. I only been on the BM5 once years ago on a Orion CNG (epic ride) and people didn't start getting off until the bus got in East New York IIRC.
  4. LIRR Diesel 501 broke down at Bellmore, drinking game for every time this dude calls these locos "Pieces of Junk" you will probably get alcohol poisoning 😄
  5. Apparently some subway cars did get damaged due to Ida, in the video below is an R142 being TOWED back to the barn, I heard some of the line's R62A's got stuck in the flooded portion of its route as well. Not my video BTW. Vary rare to see subway cars that's not brand new by towed by a diesel, most times they can limp back the barn on their own power or is pushed by another subway train.
  6. The A/C on the Nova hybrids suck, rode them three times already, the latter two all the windows was closed and the bus was still warm on a hot day. Why is my luck so bad in regards to LFS's and A/C? I regularly get Orions and New Flyers with working A/C. The XDE40s at MCH have excellent A/C in my experience. Also, forgot to post this yesterday, but 9507 was on the shuttle. If anybody was wondering if 9500-9509 are used on subway shuttles.
  7. MTA Bus sent MCIs to NYCT before, YUK had some MCI Bus MCIs well over a decade ago, I remember photographing one. Also I seriously doubt the Detorit MCIs are coming out of retirement, they would activate the 2200s and 4300s before the 02 units.
  8. The work is being done at Livonia Ave (adding ADA access to the station) .
  9. MTA programed a 9/11 tribute onto their destination signs.
  10. Rode one of these for the first time today, great bus, very smooth ride, fast and solid when going over bumps. Rode it on the N20G.
  11. Has anybody ever noticed that most of LGA 40 foot routes have lousy headways off peak? Over the years when I fan an LGA route I usually ride the 33/53/69/70/72 which have pretty good service but I wanted to fan their other local routes and man those headways are trash (I'm using the Queens service guide for reference) . I hate having to look at schedules to fan routes within the five boroughs, Brooklyn spoils me when it comes to bus service, most routes here just stand at the bus stop and wait like 10 minutes at most before a bus shows up.
  12. I wonder between the three CMF and outside vendors, can some of those buses be salvaged. This is not the first time SI had bus problems I relation to water, decades ago in some old depot that no longer exists some buses fell into NY harbor 😄 I remember seeing a subchat almanac about it. EDIT: Found an article about it https://www.nytimes.com/1983/02/19/nyregion/the-city-buses-in-harbor-being-retrieved.html
  13. The R46s aren't on their last legs, that's just foamer folklore. Yes, the cars are on their last legs yet are the backbone of and provide reliable service on the longest line in the system.
  14. I would imagine the 68s are on borrowed time at this point (if all options are taken, there's enough R211s to replace ALL remaining B Div SMEEs) so at this point in there service life it isn't worth the expense to upgrade the R68s to do that. Also they could just retire the R68s before the R46s, 46s have digital signs and more modern couplers. Most of the general public doesn't realize the R46 is actually older than the R68s, so if they scrap the 68s first, won't have to worry about passengers complaining, etc.
  15. In regards to that moves/transfers thread, its crazy how some fanners notice when random NG hybrids haven't ran for an extended period of time. NG fleet is like what, 800+ buses citywide? How do yall notice random buses being OOS for an extended period of time, especially when they haven't been removed from rosters? I really liked the RTS when they was around and even I wouldn't notice if an random unit was out for an extended period, yall Gen Z fanners have a new level of passion.
  16. They get SMS'd every six years, same goes for the other car classes. SMS is basically a rehab.
  17. Someone also changed the rollsigns on one of the TS Shuttle cars to line readings... most likely a railfan trolling.
  18. The supreme R143 set has been broken up, one half of an R143 set is the supreme cars, the other half is an regular R143 set. Figured this would happen when I saw an 4 car supreme set in ENY yard couple days ago.
  19. Whats crazy is that is theres no BX12s servicing Orchard Beach today, the unofficial last day of summer smh lol. The BX12 local are all ending at Pelham Bay, I assume they have shuttles serving the beach..
  20. I can understand the importance of buses that parallel subway lines cause of senior citizens, ADA passengers, etc. What I don't understand is having a bus that parallels the subway outright having a hawk... seniors and ADA aren't travelling in the wee hours of the morning. Like 95 percent of the B63 is within walking distance of the train.
  21. lol at posters refusing to be convinced 4331 is scrap. If FLA started cannibalizing the bus for parts its most likely scrap. They already started scrapping NGs from other depots so why is it so hard to believe 4331 is done? Especially if it got in an major accident. Also keep in mind FLA recently got some NGs from MTV, one of those is most likely an replacement for 4331.
  22. Yeah, they had them for a few years now, only have a small amount, only have five buses and they only run during rush hour on the N6X. Google "Nice bus XN60" theres plenty of photos and videos on Youtube.
  23. The runs an 8 minute headway on weekends and theres a bunch of cars from the laid up on the middle track on the Jerome EL today. So they should have enough cars on the southern end to make service on weekends, weekdays is where things get dicey I'd imagine.
  24. There's a 40 foot LFS on the BX41 local, never seen that happen outside of snowstorms. Theres a bunch of 40 Footers on the BX12 local which is common, even one NG! There's also two C40s on the BX39.
  25. I'm surprised the TA didn't use some R142s or whatever equipment from another line to supplement the line R62As stuck on the southern portion of the line.
