  1. Do these buses run in service daily or they are being held for some reason? I have yet to see one Then again I've only seen buses from the 7193-7197 batch twice since they been at ENY while I get buses from 7140-7149 all the time lol
  2. Damn, I wanted one of the trolley museums to get these cars. Ethier way, seeing them run on their own power again was highly unlikely as they probably need the B cars to function like the R142-R179s do.
  3. The automated announcement on the train I'm on announced Newkirk Ave as "Newkirk - Little Haiti" .
  4. Loving the N/Q/W lines right now, 100% SMEE, a lot more 68/68As on broadway since they aren't used on the anymore. Love those old SMEEs, it's cool outside so the only flaw the cars have from a passenger prospective, the crappy A/C, won't be an issue for the next few months. Rode an R68A up to Astoria as the sun was setting, good vibes.
  5. Slip n slide is a problem tonight on Metro North so I assume the LIRR is having the same problem. I wonder if the LIRR M3s will be temporarily bought back due to M7s and M9s needing their wheels fix. That's how they came back the first time after they was all removed from service.
  6. When I rode the 107 out of PABT its bay is at an angle that requires the bus to back up to leave. I assume it was an NY bound run, then went back to Jersey Not in Service...? For those who don't understand what I'm talking about, the 107 bay at PA is similar to the bays at Hempstead transit center. Would be a challenge to send an artic on an NJ bound run there..
  7. Forgot to mention this, but I seen an artic on the 61 to Port Chester the other day, funny seeing a route with hour headways use an articulated bus...
  8. In my experience riding the peak runs they both have enough ridership to be kept separate. I know on the map the Bay Ridge Express bus pick up/drop off portion in Brooklyn looks short but its actually a lot longer than the map portrays it as. I was surprised the first time I rode the Bay Ridge express bus how long it took to get to the last stop once it got off the BQE.
  9. Today I was on an that went on an skip from Borough Hall to Brooklyn Bridge... someone was trespassing in the tunnel which caused major delays on the Brooklyn IRT. Cops was walking though my train, some with flashlights looking out the window for the person. At first I thought it was an 12-9 and they was looking for the body before the C/R informed us of what was happening. The 7th Ave bound track had its power cut while the Lex Ave line track kept its power on the entire time. They eventually found the person BTW, I assume they got arrested.
  10. This morning 7121 and 7122 were on the B42 back to back haha, one of these two was still running on the B42 as of a few minutes ago. The other day, I walked from the street the Bx17 runs on via E Tremont & Burnside to Grand Concourse. A BX42 was a couple stops behind me... Me and the BX42 got to GC at the same time! Traffic is really ruining bus service in this city.
  11. I saw it around where the M8 terminal is. Forgot to mention in my OP, I seen FOUR XE60s within like an 20 minute span this afternoon, one on the M23 and the other three on the M14. Nice to see them become more common. I know they don't dump all 15 in service at once due to spares, buses charging, buses out for maintenance, etc. I guess the most is 5 - 6 is in service at once on average? Prior to today, I only seen one XE60 a day on average, so seeing four of them in one day was quite nice lol
  12. While I was in Hudson River Park earlier, I seen an LFS from YUK traveling N/B on the West Side Highway, no idea where it was headed.
  13. I heard they are not even training new hires on the R32s, I'm pretty sure they are officially retired. Only way I see them coming back is if the R179s need to be sidelined again, which is at this point is highly unlikely as the 179s are doing well. And yea the Holiday train is chaotic and very busy I doubt the crew would want to bother with asking people to put on their mask.
  14. Interesting that the Arines might be the first post covid "fantrip" rather than a R32 final trip. If the holiday train is indeed coming back looks like fanners are gonna be bugging the NYCT twitter account asking about a final R32 run😄 My guess is they will be using the Arines for movie shoots and that's why they are training T/Os on those cars.
  15. If anybody wants go the Rockaways while this midday G.O is effect, don't. Transit wise the Rockaways is a disaster with infrequent shuttle buses and Q22's packed to capacity. A weekday shuttle bus G.O + driver shortage = infrequent shuttle buses.
  16. I totally understand what BMT stood for = Barely Moving Trains. Totally fitting name for those BMT lines in Downtown BK and south of Canal street.
  17. There's an half hour gap in Rockaway bound service in Brooklyn....
  18. ^^^^ Wow, never seen a commuter railroad have so many service outages requiring shuttle buses. I hope they use MTA buses for equipment. Years ago they used to use NYCT/MTA bus for equipment but it seems like they don't do that in recent years unless it's an unplanned emergency. Lol at Hempstead trains being rerouted to Mineola, that is so NYC Subway like!
  19. This morning an LIRR M9 ran into GCT in the new LIRR terminal with the Governor for a press conference. Saw it on the news.
  20. Went up to the Palisades Mall today and took the Metro North to Tarrytown to catch Hudson Link. Hudson Line is a mess due to track work. My Poughkeepsie bound train arrived at Tarrytown on the GCT bound local track, and going back my GCT bound express train arrived on the Pou/Croton Harmon bound local track. I believe all Metro North tracks on Bi Signalled (IDK what the actual railroad term is called for this) so Metro North trains can in ethier direction on any track. From somewhere around Greystone to The Bronx we travelled on the Westchester bound local track even though we was an Express train bound for GCT. Despite the slow speed orders we only got to GCT a minute late. I missed my Hudson Link connection cause of the slow speed order POU bound though.
  21. Haha, I was JUST about to ask if those Spring Creek Prevosts had hit service yet. This post answers my question. Gonna be weird to see Prevosts in Canarsie.
  22. Some idiot threw an TV on the tracks at Bedford Ave and PM Rush service is all screwed up as an result, 8 minute gaps between trains, usually runs every four minutes during rush hour.
  23. I wonder the same thing. I heard they couldn't run 10 car M7s on the Harlem line due to substation limitations, I googled "metro north substation upgrades" and only found links talking about the New Haven line. Sucks as a railfan you was guaranteed to get an M3 on those Harlem line runs that require 10 car trains before they started using 7s on them.
  24. Correction, LIRR trains use the Amtrak E/B tube during rush hour, it's just that I ever been on an rush hour LIRR that got went though the Amtrak tube during the rush.
  25. All of my years of riding buses, all agencies not just the MTA, the ONLY time a bus had to be taken OOS due to an mechanical problem was cause one of the rear doors was messed up on those Nova artics. Happened on the BX12 SBS in 2011. The traditional outward rear doors on the XD40s, Orions, etc are the best ones.
