  1. Train was crowded like an pre pandemic rush hour train, now onto the revenue service debut of the R211 as the next big railfan event. I love the R32s, glad we got an extra decade to ride them and their stints on the was an nice bonus.
  2. The year the Arnines was on the BB - Ocean Parkway shuttle certainly wasn't 8 cars, same goes for the R38/R33WF mix they ran another year. I think the BMT standards museum train is only like three or four cars long. A TSS be riding these museum runs so maybe the TA let's the whole lack of an C/R board thing slide since an TSS is on the train anyway. Those strict rules about C/R boards mainly apply to regular road trains.
  3. Aren't some of the parade of trains consists less than six cars? And they able to load & unload passengers just fine at Brighton Beach even though there isn't C/R boards for six car operations there AFAIK.
  4. I hope not, as the trips tomorrow will most likely draw the largest crowds. 1) it's the last R32 runs ever 2) they haven't ran in passenger service on the Brighton in well over a decade, a lot of the younger railfans wasn't old enough the enjoy that R32 train during the Brighton station rehab. If it's only six cars they should have tacked on the phase two cars to replace the vandalized cars. Then again IDK how road worthy the Phase two cars are nor do I know how long it would take to prep them.
  5. My Ideal interborough express would be from Bay Ridge to the unused level at Roosevelt IND, and tunnel to LGA Airport (with a stop at Northern Blvd) and terminate there using Light Rail equipment. I realize that the line going to LGA via an tunnel is an pipe dream due to the streets it would have to travel under being in residential areas... I remember how much of an mess the SAS made of the Upper East Side. But man I'd love for this to be Light Rail, I already have the equipment envisioned in my head, LRV's wrapped in the Cuomo scheme the buses use with R211 features. On the side of the cars would have an sliver and blue "MTA Light Rail" logo similar to what the subway cars have. I think this proposed route would travel from Bay Ridge to the unused Roosevelt IND level and terminate there since the Roosevelt Ave - Jackson Heights station is only a couple blocks away from the ROW this proposed rail service would travel on.
  6. The R32 final run is still happening this Sunday, people got E Mails from the TM confirming it.
  7. Does the M86 have an swing bus at its west side terminal? Cause 4961 is parked there and I passed up a couple of buses in hopes to ride it and it never went into service...
  8. The interior was vandalized in addition to the outside of the train. Modern day graffiti artists don't vandalize train interiors in the yard, they just tag the outside of the train and leave. The PA system was damaged as part of the vandalism, don't think a tagger would do that.
  9. MTA telling employees that if you test positive for COVID and have no symptoms, you have to come to work anyway, wow!
  10. B is suspended for the whole week, yikes! Eric Adams should consider making schools remote learning to put less strain on the transit system with all this reduced service. must be getting slammed on Brighton with all those schools along the lines and the not running..
  11. They added a Wabco AA2 horn on the south motor !!! Horn used on PATH, NJT arrow 3, SIR R44s and NYCT work diesels. Example of how they sound
  12. The NG I rode on the B17 earlier, one of the windows in the rear door had an New Flyer logo, near the bottom. Just happened to look down and notice the logo haha. Noteworthy cause it's an New Flyer window in an Orion bus. Ethier some XD40 and NG parts are interchangeable or NF is making Orion parts since they went out of business. Probably the latter.
  13. Earlier I was at 42nd Bryant Park waiting for an S/B 6th Ave train to west 4th for the A/C line, check the countdown clock, was 15 minutes away and the was 20 minutes away.. I went out of the system to walk to the 34th Street on the 8th Ave line. My train showed up, it was an R46 with a defect of some sort, my guess is the handbrake activated on one of the cars as I felt like the train was a dragging one of the trucks in my car along. I've heard of handbrakes activating on moving trains before so it ain't that far fetched lol. Got off at 14th for the and called it a day.
  14. They will run on the between Brighton Beach and 96th Street on the second sunday in January.
  15. To my surprise, surface is running an weekday schedule today, while the subway is running weekend service. Was surprised to see an SBS B82 bus today.
  16. You mean the NY tri state area? If so NJT will still have high floor transit buses for the foreseeable future. Those 40FT Bee Line O-Vs were cool, whenever I rode one on a warm weather day I always got a bus with crappy A/C, otherwise I liked them. Their Cummins engines made them unique compared to NYC Orion Vs which were powered by Series 50.
  17. Service is so reduced today that they didn't have to use the Express track layups between 179th and Briarwood on the (F).
  18. The employees of the arena like the people who work the concession stands, etc might find the N6X stopping there useful. Yankee Stadium and Citifield misc workers have similar demographics to NICE Bus ridership. I think we can all agree fans of the events that will be held at the arena won't be taking NICE Bus there lol
  19. Not if their losing the BX39 cause they will need less buses
  20. Saw in a COVID thread on Reddit that at one point last week there was a depot out there down 60 Bus Operators due to COVID. I thought depots were short like 10-15 operators at most... not SIXTY! The driver in the reddit thread didn't say which depot it was.
  21. Expect longer waits for trains next week as NYCT has been hit pretty hard by the COVID surge recently.
  22. Someone posted an podcast about last week events on a non transit reddit (NYC Reddit) and some of the comments from regular New Yorkers are quite funny.
  23. I think some trains skip 125th during rush hour, otherwise all trains stop there. Stamford/Southeast bound expresses skip Fordham, but stop there GCT bound.
  24. Those Nova hybrids sound quite nice when they can open them up a little bit, as a buff the NF Hybrids are a little disappointing as they are very quiet, hardly make any noise. Maybe it's because they new and they will sound better as they get "broken in". 9500-9509 are great from a buff prospective but these new XDE40s don't hit the same so far.
  25. They could just take some seats out of an unused R32 and put it in the damaged car, rather than swap out the whole pair.
