LIRR is cross honoring this weekend between Penn and Jamaica so if anybody wanna ride the Bi Level trains powered by the DM30 for free, this is your chance. Just make sure to have the Subway train G.O loaded on your phone in case the C/R thinks you're lying about the cross honoring. Did a round from Penn to Jamaica and back, dual mode each way. Was cool to be on an Dual Mode that stopped at Woodside. Most if not all diesel/dual mode runs skip Woodside.

I know. I was talking about before the R160s came. Back then the R143s only ran on the and the weekend . The mixed and strip maps is a recent thing. I rode the regularly in 03-05 and only R42s ran on the line.

Was in White Plains today and saw XE40 146 on the 13! Wasn't in a position to ride it as I was in lane E and it was playland bound. Didn't know Bee Line had XE40s, I know they had XDE40s and XE35s but not XE40s.

For some reason I doubt the pre MTA LIRR would be OK with those subway extensions deep into their territory (long island) LIRR is much faster than the subway and still takes well over an hour to reach Babylon and some of those Ronkonkoma line stations. An NY subway service would take forever to reach Manhattan from Babylon. I did chuckle at the train being extended to Jones Beach, that was funny!

All four lines that go to Stillwell are not going there due to a signal problem right now. Never seen a change like that before.

@paulrivera Didn't you take LIRR from Penn to Brooklyn via Jamaica to avoid using the subway due to crime, well looks like there was a shooting on the LIRR. Surprised one wouldn't feel safe on the line, during the daytime hours it's one of the safest lines cause of how busy it is so the odds of becoming a victim of crime on that line is low IMO.

That awkward moment when an Mexican music band and showtime dancers are in the same car at the same time.... Anyway showtime dancers pretty much got no sold (wrestling terminology for no reaction) by the train car and one of them was kind of in his feelings over it. The panhandling hustle is over saturated, even if one had the talent to showtime dance, it just seems easier to simply just get a job. A lot of jobs are having trouble keeping workers so everyone and their mother is hiring these days. I mean, one half trip on the had like four or five panhandlers in one car throughout the trip. Nobody is going to give everyone of those people a dollar.

I was watching the Living Single intro on Hulu and they have a Green Lines RTS on layover in Manthattan, most likely a Q60 on layover. Was nice to see an PBL be in the intro of a TV Show. I remember parts of NY Undercover as a kid, glad to see that show is on the air again. Hopefully episodes find their way to free streaming sites lol

Today I seen an R142 car with TWO cut out doors in the same car... never seen that before. I'm sure this happened all the time back in the "bad ol days" of the late 70s and 80s but I wasn't around for that era lol.

You can buy riverline and Atlantic City rail line tickets in the app... both of which are in south Jeresy with an NYC zip code but you gotta change your zip code to purchase bus tickets for a South Jeresy bus route SMH. I had planned an 319 - 551 - Riverline - NJT NEC fantrip, but had to change plans and take the Atlantic City line train instead to the Riverline due to that nonsense with the app. I enjoyed my ride on the Atlantic City rail line, first time riding it, very nice route! Also rode the 319 for the first time today.

Why can't you buy 551 tickets in the app? It's not listed in the list of routes and you can only choose 319 stops when you put in Atlantic City as an origin (In Atlantic City right now). Is it because I have an NYC address and not an Philly or South Jeresy address? EDIT: NONE of the NJT bus routes that go into Philly are in the app, WTF?

This may seem selfish but I hope the battery powered M7 project flops lol. I like my Diesel trains to hauled by a locomotive with passenger cars. I love those DE/DM locomotives. Diesel powered trains is part of the charm of American commuter railroads. Like how loud they are and is one of the best things about LIRR from railfan POV IMO. I want LIRR to buy new diesel engines and loco hauled passgener cars when the DE & C3s are up for retirement. Not no battery powered MUs, Ewww lol. Speaking of LIRR Diesels, when do they plan to replace the MP15s? they have been around since like the 70s..

Isn't the pliot set for SIR due in the summer of this year? I'm more excited for the SIR 211s than the subway ones lol. Curious to see if they have a FIND or an strip map, plus cab signals in a subway car is pretty cool. I wonder if the cab signals will be put into the TOD screen or will it be separate. Hopefully it won't take a year of testing for the SIR R211 to hit service, also I have a feeling they have a lot of single tracking G.Os to make track space to test these cars.

NYCT: B41 MABOSA: BX12 (SBS or local, doesn't matter) MTA Bus: pretty much any ECH express route cause you get decent highway running time. Only the SI via NJ or FDR are better when it comes to express runs in NYC....

I agree that subway crime is a problem. However argggh at posting those youtube videos of so and so news channel didn't cover so and so story. What is with certain people in this community and obsessing over certain news channels not covering certain stories? Just don't watch that channel if you don't like the stories they are covering. It's such an silly thing to get worked up about.

Yeah it's a video game where you can operate Metro North trains on the New Haven and Hudson lines. It just was an random thought that happened related to Metro North. As a kid I never thought I would be able to virtually operate NYC area rail lines in a game. Usually model toy trains was as good as it gets.

They are now storing trains in that new yard the LIRR built next to Sunnyside Yard, seen some M7s layed up in there.

LIRR service is delayed due to an Amtrak problem in the east river tubes, this has messed up NJT service too. I'm personally caught up in this as I'm on an NY bound Amtrak train delayed in NJ..
