  1. Didn't some vandals steal the rollsigns out of an R68 layed up at City Hall? I wouldn't be surprised if they don't have any spare rollsigns. They could always take an rollsign out of an retired R46 and put it in the R68.
  2. Both orders will probably be ongoing at the same time. Orion delivered NG hybrids for NYC and the NG CNGs for LIB at the same time. Also, didn't old gen Orions for both MTA Bus and NYCT come in at the same time?
  3. Running the is less confusing and the usually runs every 10 minutes on weekends so sending select trains to Astoria would be an service cut for SAS.
  4. Sounds like that B/O was enforcing the rules on their bus. Why would the MTA add service on the Q46 when it goes nowhere near Barclays Center? Had to watch the video twice to make sure I heard that right.
  5. I've never noticed these modern buses to give off any type of smell nor is it hard to breathe around an idling bus. Then again that's Nova/MCI/Prevost land, my experiences are with XD40s and NGs at the Rockaway Parkway bus terminal. Maybe it varies from bus model to bus model? Shrugs.
  6. The most annoying thing about riding the subway on weekends in all the flagging, S/B train was flagging from 42nd to West 4th SMH.
  7. Surprisingly, theres only one Charleston 2022 Prevost in service right now, 1607. I thought they would run all eight units they have in service lol.
  8. Rendering of the new Metro North dual modes, they are not coming anytime soon but enjoy the rendering I guess..
  9. While were on this topic, I wonder if the MTA will reprogram the TVM currently at GCT where you can buy both LIRR and MN tickets from the same machine. Any LIRR station to Yankees - E153rd would be an good combo ticket as there's a lot of Yankee fans on LI.
  10. Cool. I don't go out of my way to look for SC Prevosts since I live along the BM2.. I just waited for one to come to me Knew it was only a matter of time before I seen one on the BM2.
  11. When the R68A made up the vast majority of the line, its MDBF was barely higher than R46s in 2020. It shot up by 40,000 miles over the course of 2021 even though more sets ran on the Broadway lines. Trains are weird lol. Slightly O/T but the R179 MDBF shot up as well. I told everyone that things would be just fine having the R32 retire before the R211s hit revenue service and that seems to be the case so far.
  12. I'm sorry but the MDBF do not reflect an "nosedive" of reliability. Dec 2021 R46s had an MDBF of 56,437 miles, R46 MDBF actually went UP from Nov 2021, hardly an nosedive.
  13. I don't doubt these things happen from time to time, but those problems are probably exaggerated I've been in railfan internet circles for a long time and one thing I noticed is people in this hobby exaggerate the hell out of the flaws of some random bus or train they don't like. I see a lot of NTT with cut out doors from time to time, its no big deal. Longer dwell times is a problem with the 75FT cars in general.
  14. How is implementing a service improvement (CBTC) quicker when possible a stupid move? N/Q/W riders are getting the same service they was getting with the R160s, just with different cars. I really don't understand why railfans are so aggy over this swap two years after it started. The R46s are reliable and have gotten better compared to when they first arrived at CI. Less dead motors, less flat wheels, etc. This isn't the 80s where trains had three digit MDBF and covered in graffiti and broken lights. The R46s aren't that bad
  15. I finally saw an Prevost on the BM2, nice sight...
  16. That's how it should be given the terminal situation at Astoria.
  17. Is it me or the R160s heat is trash? That's one area where the R179 was an improvement over the R160s, R179s are nice and toasty where's the R160s are chilly. R160s have GREAT A/C in the summer but the heat is weak. Bombardier R142s also have great heat, I think that's one reason the is so popular with the homeless during the winter despite the fact that the spends well over an hour outside in the BX (round trip).
  18. I could have swore I seen an "Take this bus for 2.75" ad on an express bus before.
  19. Man today a homeless man was sleep laying down on the train AND THERE WAS TWO COPS STANDING RIGHT NEXT TO THE CAR and guess what? They didn't do shit! They stood there chatting amongst themselves.
  20. Both is possible but Amtrak going to LI is more realistic. Amtrak was actually considering adding service to Ronkonkoma.
  21. Making an bus map of the entire state of NJ would be an difficult task. If anything it would have to be broken up by counties. Making the Union City - PABT area in a bus map seems like a nightmare. Like do you put the private carriers who pass though Union City but don't stop there on the map or not? Maybe the city of Newark can be done in a bus map, but even then you got routes like the 67 which travels a long ways from Newark.
  22. Most likely there's someone higher in the MTA authority, higher than MTV management sending these extra buses to the BX. I don't think MTV has any say in the matter. They have 90+ Novas at MTV and they run in service daily, I'd imagine MTV management is quite accepting of the new buses.
  23. There's at least one old C40 still at ECH last time I was there. And to @Bx41 boi you won't be able to get a good shot of it where its parked at. I have no idea why that old C40 is still there, maybe it's being held for the museum? Then again I don't think the TM wants to be bothered with CNG buses.
