  1. Were you given a summons from a police officer or did you get snagged at a red light camera? There is a big difference.
  2. NYCTA Employment Center 347-643-7413 9AM-4PM. I called this number for an issue and I was on hold for about 5 minutes before I spoke with someone. Email is : employment center@ nyct.com. Include your applicant ID# in the email. Good luck.
  3. Almost all of the open competitive tests for almost all civil service positions are going to be common sense, reading comprehension and basic intelligence. You do not need any special knowledge for the police officer, fireman, sanitation, conductor or train operator. The respective agencies will assume you know nothing at all about the position you are applying for. They will train you for that particular job in their own way. The civil service test shows them that you possess the ability to absorb and learn the job once they hire you. I have taken many various exams over the years and have found that I got better each time that I took them. I would suggest taking the police exam and fireman exam for the experience, even if you are not at all that interested in those jobs. Someone in a previous post suggested that you join the military in the meantime. Do 4 years in the army ,navy, air force ,marines etc and you will gain great benefits in experience. If a civil service exam pops up while you are doing your enlistment sometimes you can take leave and come back, take the exam and perhaps have a job waiting for you when your enlistment is up. Just making a suggestion . An honorable discharge is something that almost all employers look very favorably on..Good luck to you Jay.
  4. You are correct. I also got the email and I got 6 wrong. However, I was unable to open the form from my email. I called them and they said they would get back to me. The woman I spoke to told me that they are inundated with work right now. She said they are in the process of hiring 2,000 bus drivers. Does anyone know if this is the same form they sent us in May?
  5. Did you also complete this same form back in May as well? Also, were you able to download it this time?
  6. I just received an email from transit and they want me to complete another Education and Experience form. I already completed and submitted that same form back in May before we even got to the written exam. For some reason, I am unable to download it either on my cell phone or laptop. Please let me know if anyone else got this form and is having trouble downloading it. They want it completed by Aug. 19th.
  7. Thank you for the info. How did you find out?
  8. No. As of today, July 9, the answers are still not available. There is no further mention as to when the new release date will be.
  9. You are correct. However, they must also calculate in legacy points and veterans points and add them into the final grades. It can take awhile.
  10. I used my 5 veteran's points years ago on another exam and was told at that time that you needed to be a NYS resident at the time of enlistment into the armed forces. It was a long time ago so you might be right and perhaps the requirement has changed. Either way times have changed and there are not that many veterans like there were back then so I don't believe there will be as many as there were in years past. If you score high enough it is advisable to save your vets points for a promotional exam, assuming of course you get in the door first.
  11. I got 6 wrong so I figure my score is 92.50%. Honorably discharged veterans get an extra 5 points added to a passing score and disabled vets get 10 points. However, the veteran must have entered the U.S. military as a NYS resident at the time of his or her enlistment.
