  1. Usually, it's the n80 using them on the regular. Wouldn't be surprised if it ended up on any of the other routes you mentioned. They did say they were using them on the n57, n78 and n80 as part of "vehicle flexing".
  2. Doesn't the signal usually change from red to green as you approach the end of the platform as it expects you to stop in time? But since you're doing a battery run you can't just barrel through the station or you might trip the signal at the end of the platform.
  3. Yea, just be sure that you're carrying a Metrocard with you. Doesn't even need to have fare on it as they can't even check that. I don't know if it's an old railroad law but you just need one to show you intended to use the subway. They should advertise the service but I'll admit the fares between Zone 1 and Zone 3 are quite steep. $7.75 off-peak just to travel to Jamaica (...or Flushing for that matter) is insane. $10.75 peak is a non-starter for me. If you rode from Little Neck (which is still in Zone 3 btw), it would be a lot more bang for your buck. It seems that intra-city riders get punished for using the RR.
  4. I don't buy this shit for a second. The N20G/H split has made me suffer for hours. When the line wasn't split at Great Neck, I never experienced a wait of more than 45 mins but I've experienced waits of up to 2 hrs and two buses passed us SRO. My transfer expired and they were waiving people through the back door. I wasn't putting up with that so I waited for the empty bus behind it. It's ridiculous that the waits were that long and we saw bunching occur as all the N20G's were making the left turn onto Middle Neck Rd. The fact that this happened on several occasions is glaring and everyone on line was contemplating getting an Uber. One woman was fed up after seeing the first bus flag us and threw herself in front of the second bus which swerved and hit the center median. Police were called to the scene but everything was resolved without issue. They should make it run like the Q66 with short-turns to Great Neck, not this half and half bs. Contrary to their belief, not everyone needs a pit stop at Great Neck.
  5. Personally speaking, the conductors don't really use seat checks in between those two, it's more of a flash it once deal. I should've specified, it'll be abused by Metrocard holders a lot. Fare-free and a fast ride? That's a good deal.
  6. Nah, I doubt it’s a budget issue as much as it is a lack of priority. Does it affect the trains ability to run? No. It’s not a pressing issue that needs to be fixed ASAP. I assume when the train gets routine maintenance, they may inspect the rollsigns as well, other than that, it’ll continue displaying 57th-7th Ave. Doesn’t the 96th rollsign just replace one of the previous existing terminals? Can’t imagine it being all that expensive.
  7. What about those trying to get to the AirTrain? Tbh the conductors can't really enforce the fare between Woodside and Jamaica or Penn so this is definitely being abused either way.
  8. I'm curious why Eastchester has a local fleet of NG's if they have the Q50 and Bx23 which travel on the highway, Q50 moreso.
  9. Why did they exclude Woodside from the list of LIRR stations that they're cross-honoring?
  10. Wow I didn't even know they had "Bx9 Bronx Zoo" short turn signage, seen the Fordham Plz ones though. That's way worse than the Q44 ones especially since its traveling along the perimeter and terminating at the 2/5 stop. If they do extend the Q44 to Fordham, it'll prob be FORDHAM PLZ like the Bx15. I don't know, whenever I think about Parkchester, I think of the projects where the Bx22 runs through (Unionport Rd & Metropolitan Oval). But yea everyone does refer to Hugh Grant Circle as Parkchester also, B/O's announce it as it's a timing point.
  11. I remember when the Q44 pre-SBS would display BRONX ZOO (on top) W. FARMS SQ (bottom) and after SBS, became just one big bold line: BRONX ZOO. Given how massive Bronx Zoo is, I think they should specify. I think I prefer it the way it was before. Also, I think it should display via Cross Bronx Expwy on a new scroll considering it uses that route for the entirety of its Bronx portion.
  12. That's why I'm saying it's most likely an honest mistake because if you report it as you see them, then it wouldn't make sense. 7376 was and has always been a CS bus (Queens Division). You said you rode #7199 on the B62 on the post prior and then reported #7122 after 7376. So, unless you went from Brooklyn Division to the other end of Queens and back, it doesn't seem as likely. It makes more sense that you saw 7276 because that's a FP bus and you may have spotted it at Downtown Brklyn or Williamsburg Bridge Bus Terminal.
  13. You reported it. LOL. I'm sure it was just an honest mistake because the posts you made before and after (on the same day) are in the Brklyn Division so you may have meant 7276.
  14. Uhhhh I rode 7376 today and I didn't see any info screens on it. I'm pretty sure it was 7376 at least. Memory is a bit foggy since it was several hours ago but it was doing a trip on the Q20A n/b around 2PM.
  15. If he's so brazen about asking for a ride on someone's dime, I'm wondering why he didn't just hop the turnstyle in the first place. Dude has morals? lol
  16. My hunch is they're working on all the newer buses first and maybe if there is room in the budget, they'll put them on the NG's but the NG's are next on the chopping block after the OG's so it's probably more economical and helpful in the long run to install them on the Xcelsiors, even tho NG's are getting OMNY but OMNY ties directly with fare collection. I think they're working on the 2014/15 Xcelsiors currently, and my guess is the 2016/17 XD60 order may be next (could potentially be 2011 NovaBus LFS, 2011/12 XD60's, doubt the 3G's are getting them). Last batch of NG's to receive the screens I believe were Eastchester's batch. This is just a hunch, feel free to correct me!!!
  17. Haha, it'd be so dangerous to have to look up for a split second to determine whether you pull into or bypass the stop.
  18. Yea it's been there since last week, presumably for schoolcar? Not sure. It was parked next to an R68 or 68A (also not sure) when I saw it?
  19. Nah, that would be confused with the express buses that's run with coach buses. They could just rename every LIMITED designated route to SELECT, under the guise that it makes SELECT stops. LIMITED...SELECT, mean the same thing when everyone has OMNY back door boarding and the same stop pattern.
  20. Potentially. The whole point of SBS and IMO, the main selling point was the off board fare payment (save S79 which was botched 😒) which probably saved the most time. With OMNY, back door boarding can be a thing but enforcement is the other big issue which easily eats up any revenue the MTA gained. And with the OMNY readers, there's almost no point in maintaining on the street machines which require people to refill the ticket paper, routine maintenance and emptying out coins.
  21. Nah, CBTC installation for all the R160's hasn't started yet.
