  1. My class took the R68 from Stillwell to 205 st. I had stops from 145 st to 174-175 st. Going back, we were routed on the Q line so I made stops from 7 ave to Beverley Rd. The braking on this train has a slight more delay than the 32/42. I'm getting the hang of cutting and adding, just gotta remember to throw the reverser key in the correct direction... Everything else is going smoothly. Tomorrow will be intro to R160 at CIYD
  2. it happened to me in the beginning but then one day i was logged in for good. Not sure what fixed the issue.
  3. yeaaa! the front of the train was fouling the fouling point sign so the low home was behind 1 or 2 cars so according to them, they "never saw it". But according to Rendon, if they properly inspected the outside, no way both of them could've missed the low home. Lol knuckleheads did it to themselves. I wish more idiots like these get weed out so people with good work ethic get a chance.
  4. Today in class, TSS Rendon mentioned the 2 people who split the switches. Then I thought about what you posted, should be the same 2 people. What a shame.
  5. Thanks Medicc for starting this thread. I began reading from page 1 since I was hired at 180 livingston on Nov 13, 2018. I started schoolcar last month Nov 26 and it's been really intense. Can't believe that I operated the R42 from Parsons for 5 stops just 2 weeks into "real" school. I don't consider the first week as part of training. Anyway it's been really overwhelming during the first week with all the signals and verbatim definitions that we have to know. Second week has been somewhat better especially going into the simulator for a refresher for everything that I've learned in a week and a half. I scored 23/25 on the signal quiz and I'm kicking myself because I rushed and missed the x from the signal plate in one of the fixed signals. It was supposed to be a low home with yellow not an automatic with yellow 😣 The x was so tiny! But I'll be extra mindful of that going forward. During the first week at PS248, I wanted Alesso and Carney as my instructors but didn't get them. I ended up with Greene and Jones-Nappo. They're a contrasting duo and I think it helps to have 2 different perspectives to learn from. I'm hearing that Greene teaches a different braking technique from Jones-Nappo. During both of my trips on the J, I had Jones-Nappo so I still have no idea of Greene's technique. My classmates who had Greene guide them, say that it's to just grab 15-20 PSI and hold it past mid station, then grab more to gradually bring the train to a stop. The way Jones taught me was to grab 15-20 PSI, release to <10 PSI, then take the same amount of brake again until a stop. I've had no problems so far. At the end of the day, Greene did say that no one can teach you how to brake. Everyone will have their own techniques so there's that I guess. So far I learned to cut/add and inspect move yard movement for the R32/42 Tomorrow will be intro to R68 at CIYD First practical will be Jan 12. I read my signal booklet while commuting to/from work. At home I try to hand write the misc. signals that are wordy like the employee loading platform, fouling point, stop sign, etc.
  6. my class was 60 people. Then we were divided into 6 groups of 10 people and each group has their own instructors and schedules. 20 in A division, 40 in B. I chose B and got B.
  7. I got mine from Michelle.Rivera-Vargas@nyct.com Class is intense, gotta study every night. F
  8. New York City Transit Train Operator Schedule for Medical/Final Processing
  9. 5. if you know you have a medical condition, get it checked out by your primary care physician or a specialist and have an official medical letter ready to go when you are invited for the medical. If you're not sure if you have anything, be proactive about your health and get your annual checkup done right when you get your PE inv letter. This will save you the headache from being put on hold, you'll thank me later.
  10. yes, in my case I wrote "guilty" or "dismissed" for some traffic violations.
  11. for traffic violations, you don't need to bring anything. Just be sure to list every moving violation you ever had. Even if it's from a camera, list it. If your abstract has nothing then leave page 14 blank. for criminal offenses, you have to bring copies of court dispositions or receipts for paying the tickets in my case i had tickets for open container and panhandling. I had the disposition for the open container ticket and just a payment receipt for the panhandling ticket. The clerk said "it should maybe work" but it worked 100% without even any hold up or delay. But if you want to play it safe, get those disposition letters especially if it's for more serious offenses than mine.
  12. Yes once you're hired, there is no reinstating, deferring or anything like that. You'll choose between school or the job. Once you mail the pre-employment letter with decline appointment checked, you'll be considered "deferred" or off the list. You don't have to do anything else but to call DCAS to put your list number back on. Yes you can also visit them in person to do this. And that's right, DCAS doesn't deal with taking your number off the list, only putting it back in.
  13. Don't have to list it in your pre-employment form. When you report for pre-employment, they will give you this booklet in which page 14 will ask you for traffic violations. You will be asked to bring this comprehensive personnel document back to medical/final processing if you pass the drug test.
  14. The HR person said wait 24-48 (business?) hrs after hire to order the boots. You should be well into 72 hours and be able to order. Maybe wait til Friday 11/16 and see if you can place the order then?
  15. Another reason I can think of is either you wrote your email down illegibly OR the person in charge of emailing medical notices has been sending the emails out to the wrong address. Try calling Michelle or like i said go down there.
  16. Something is definitely very wrong here. You should've been emailed to go for the medical. I suspect your paperwork got misplaced or something down at 180 livingston. Definitely give them a call or make the trip to personally speak with someone at employment operations. I wouldn't put it past it if someone at lab misplaced your urine sample and mixed it with someone else who did fail their test.

  18. Well if you can get your PCP to write a letter stating all those facts...then I'd say you have a good shot at passing the medical. The part about being state approved to operate a motor vehicle will work in your favor if you can gather the relevant paperwork to back yourself up. So my advice to you, go for pre-employment and do that urine test.
  19. Yea I agree. For pre-employment, the letter didn't say to bring in disposition documents relating to criminal records. Nor did that day talk about criminal records. Mostly going over your employment history. For medical, nowhere in the comprehensive personnel document (CPD) booklet or the CPD guideline booklet say to bring in dispositions. In addition, the email for the medical states: "If you have any criminal conviction(s), please bring any information that you would like to have considered, including evidence of rehabilitation and good conduct, a certificate of relief from disabilities and/or a certificate of good conduct." But what do I know, I haven't actually been to final processing yet.
  20. I don't remember pre-employment day dealing with criminal records. That's on the CPD though
  21. 33x, got the medical email nov 9. Did my pre-employment on nov 2. Medical is scheduled for nov 13. Being considered for nov 26 class.
