The West Hempstead Branch isn't within walking distance of the Hempstead Branch. Riders would end up having to take a bus to reach either the Babylon/Long Beach Branches or Hempstead Branch.

    What time is that shuttle?

They could just do inbound/outbound. Reverse-peak ridership should always be encouraged on any commuter mode, since the marginal cost is low (Since B/Os would otherwise be deadheading back to their home depot).

In any case, I think reason would be that the B/O might log in as the opposite direction (So if it's a Midtown-bound SIM8, it might log in as an Arden Heights-bound SIM8 and accidentally charge the senior citizen half price for a peak trip).

The shuttle is 1:08PM. It operates on Friday's only. But there is also a 6:17 AM shuttle that operates from Penn Station to Jamaica everyday making a stop at Woodside. The 1:08PM Friday only shuttle operates non stop express to Jamaica.

  2. Does the 4:17, 5:51, 6:41 train to Oyster Bay from Jamaica deadhead back not in service, because I am wondering why can't the LIRR use those trains as passenger service heading back to Jamaica from Oyster Bay.

There's a gap in service from Oyster Bay to Jamaica, 4:42, 6:04, 8:28, 9:38 evening service. This is Weekday Schedule.

  3. What is the Purpose of the LIRR having West Hempstead Branch service. It seems like a wasteful service. There barely be any people using those trains. The train doesn't even stop at Valley Stream. They should just cut service on that line and use the service for somewhere else. And besides you got the nearby Hempstead train station.

  5. this was way long over due. The governor keeping the mask mandate for public transit after the CDC mandate was struck down by a Florida judge had nothing to do with public health. It was a political move.  The governor should of lifted the mask mandate right after the CDC mandate was struck down by a court order. I feel like the governor was using the mask mandate as a form of abuse and power and gaining control.

  6. The R179's are good cars. They don't need to be gone. I have trust in the MTA. I understand the issues that they encountered, but i have faith that they would be reliable once they go through this carefully examination and analysis of the cars.

  7. I don't know how the MTA can make service on the (A)(C)(J)(Z) without bringing back the R32's and maybe few R42's- depending on if they stripped some parts already. I know the R32's are in storage in the yards, same thing as the r42's. I understand the union's reason for not bringing them out in service. But when the (F) and (L) return to full service to some point in time, then the R32's would have to at least run in service if the r179's are not ready to return in service yet. You can't run just the r46's on the (A)(C) alone, it won't be enough. I have a feeling more r160's might transfer over to the (C) line.

  8. I think the r32 final retirement run will be on the (A) because of easy access to the yards and two wouldn't the NYC transit Museum prep the train up for its final run like it did with the r42s, like the train was shiny and clean before beginning it's final run. And also the transit museum has an right of way track connection that leads to the (A)(C) line in which the train can travel along the line and start it's trip at Euclid av. But I think the (D) train can be another option.

  9. URGENT REPAIRS

    (3) trains run all weekend between New Lots Av and 96 St (express in Manhattan), and via the (1) to/from 137 St.

  10. ELECTRICAL IMPROVEMENTS
Apr 6 - 10, Mon to Fri, from 11:30 PM to 5 AM
(E)(F) No trains between 71 Av and Jamaica Center or Jamaica-179 St

    ELECTRICAL IMPROVEMENTS

Should the MTA make the weekend M train to 96 street permanent ?

They are not going to make the M train to 96 street permanent. After the L project is over, the M will return to it's normal weekend service pattern running between Metropolitan Av and Essex Street. And besides, they probably want to do work along the 6th av line. Remember the MTA is moving forward with modernized signals. The reason the M runs to 96th street on weekends is to provide an alternative with the L project occurring.

Maybe it would cost more to run the (B) on weekends than extending the (M) to 168. Unfortunately, there aren't shuttle buses.

    (A) 207-Far Rockaway/Lefferts Blvd via 6 Av/Fulton local

    (E) Jamaica Center-Whitehall St via Broadway-59 St

    (M) Metropolitan Av-168 St via 6 Av/CPW local

There are shuttle buses, only for the (E) between Queens Plaza and Court Sq. But it is only one stop and I think that is useless.
